Kansas State Football / KSU fball bad non-con losses; some perspective
« on: September 18, 2022, 09:07:06 AM »
My drunken belligerence aside, yes losing at home to Tulane as a Dr. P hopeful was rough and unexpected. But as esteemed poster MIR pointed out non-elites lose this type of game all the time, and often to far lesser opponents.

And as much as one would like to believe it, we are no longer elite and haven’t been for a long time. Would our DOD and peak Snyder 2.0 mopped the floor with Tulane? I’d say yes, but we also rarely played a non-con team with a pulse in those days.

Off the top of my head, our bad non-con losses are:
2003 - Marshall, Woof city
2004 - Fresno, harbinger of bad things to come
2009 - at Louisiana, weird road game early in 2.0
2013 - NDSU, I can’t unsee all the green and yellow overalls
2017 - at Vanderbilt, the Nashville party that wasn’t
2020 - Arkansas State, weird covid stuff?
2022 - Tulane, offensive embarrassment, Klein honeymoon over?

We’ve had some doozies over the year, but let’s be honest, no more and no worse than most P5 pretty goods, which is what we are.

Here is a clip of the surfin’

The reaction from Ron Thulin and Charles Davis is priceless. You know some dude got a handful of cheek.

Andrew was GOAT 1a along with 1b Holly Rowe.

The non-con is all cakewalks. At OU is a coin flip, but if we can get by them, it’s on. Texas Tech sucks. Iowa State sucks. TCU suck. Okie Lite is homecoming. crap. We could easily be top-10 by the time Texas comes to town. Will prob beat that ass too, especially if at night.

Baylor will be a man’s task. That would take an A+ performance, but if we do? WVU and KU both suck ass. We could be undefeated heading into the Dr Pepper game.

How can they keep that out of the playoffs?

I watched a pretty interesting video last night on Youtube about the ebbs and flows of the world order. It highlighted some things as far back as ancient rome, but mostly focused on european empires beginning with the dutch. All off the world No. 1s were eventually unseated, usually after a war, but sometimes peacefully, and almost all of them were experiencing basically the same situation the US is experiencing now: debt bubbles & big wealth gaps, debt busts and big downturns (we're bandaging these), printing lots of money and credit, revolutions, wars, debt and political upheaval/restructuring.

This always occurs while an emerging power is rising to the top. It doesn't seem like there is any slowing down China, and our fall seems on the horizon. Just going back thru the 1400s or so, the Dutch, French, Brits, etc. all experienced the same thing and learned to cope and survive in their role of reduced power. Can we do the same thing? Will we be willing?

The whole thing was put together by some billionaire investor and macroeconomics dude named Ray Dalio. He's using the video to push a book of the same name.

The video is below:

Didn't see this posted anywhere. crap is wild. Power to the people imo.

Kazakhstan: What's behind the unrest and is a revolution brewing?  <-- It's already happening imo.

https://www.euronews.com/2022/01/06/kazakhstan-what-s-behind-the-unrest-and-is-a-revolution-brewing

The suppression of critical voices in Kazakhstan has long been the norm. Any figures aspiring to oppose the government have either been repressed, sidelined, or coopted. So although these demonstrations have been unusually large — some drawing more than 10,000 people, a large number for Kazakhstan — no protest movement leaders have emerged.

For most of Kazakhstan's recent history power was held in the hands of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev. That changed in 2019 when Nazarbayev, now 81, stepped aside and anointed his long-time ally Tokayev as his successor. In his capacity as head of the security council that oversees the military and security services, Nazarbayev continued to retain considerable sway over the country. Tokayev announced Wednesday that he was taking over from Nazarbayev as security council head.

Much of the anger displayed on the streets in recent days was directed not at Tokayev, but at Nazarbayev, who is still widely deemed the country’s ultimate ruler. “Shal ket!” (“Old man go”) has become the main slogan.

"The people are tired of the schizophrenic arrangement of the current government in Kazakhstan, where no one knows exactly where decisions are made, whether in the administration of President Tokayev or in the administration of the first President Nazarbayev," political analyst Arkady Dubnov told Euronews.

Essentially Flyertalk / gE philosophy thread
« on: December 12, 2021, 05:27:40 PM »
Do you enjoy philosophy? If so, which one(s)? Do you use it/them in your daily life? Maybe you hold a degree in philosophy and can tell us more.

If religious have you found a philosophy that's compatible to your faith? Are you formerly (or never) religious? Do you find philosophy as a suitable replacement for religion?

All is welcome.

They only have one item as of yet. I was gifted one for Christmas and can attest to the quality and comfort of the garment. I'll admit the boutique pricing is a bit high.

Some fancy behaviorists and mental health types created a test to see how a person ranks on several related "Dark Traits." Below is a link to an article about it, as well as a link to the actual test being used in a study made. I took the super long one, and also took the 5-7 minute memory test (I feel like I kind of cheated on the memory test tho).

These are the traits...

Egoism. The excessive concern with one's own pleasure or advantage at the expense of community well-being.

Machiavellianism. Manipulativeness, callous affect and strategic-calculating orientation.

Moral Disengagement. A generalized cognitive orientation to the world that differentiates individuals' thinking in a way that         powerfully affects unethical behavior.

Narcissism. An all-consuming motive for ego reinforcement.

Psychological Entitlement. A stable and pervasive sense that one deserves more and is entitled to more than others.

Psychopathy. Deficits in affect, callousness, self-control and impulsivity.

Sadism. Intentionally inflicting physical, sexual or psychological pain or suffering on others in order to assert power and dominance or for pleasure and enjoyment.

Self-Interest. The pursuit of gains in socially valued domains, including material goods, social status, recognition, academic or occupational achievement and happiness.

Spitefulness. A preference that would harm another but that would also entail harm to oneself. This harm could be social, financial, physical or an inconvenience.

Kansas State Football / GE top 25 poll: Pollsters needed
« on: October 18, 2020, 10:48:26 AM »
Thought it might be cool to have some gE elites create our own poll. All ballots would be public and all pollsters subjected to public ridicule.

Should be pretty easy to do and keep track of.

I’m prob way late on this, pretty sure Klieman just referred to Chabastin Taylor as “C-Bass” and I’m totally on board.

Note: I’ve warmly referred to him as “Chab” until now.
