Kansas State Football / Re: LSU or Baylor

I guess I'll be in the minority and say that the school that was literally running a known rape program, had coaches with complete knowledge of it, had basketball players murdering each other, had the local PD running interference, used the Texas legislature to pressure entrance into the Big XII, and who hired Ken Starr to be university president, is worse than LSU.

Our basketball team was started in 1902. We played in a variety of places until Nichols Hall was built in 1911. Home games were then held there until 1950 when Ahearn was built.

Nichols Hall: 1911 - 1949, 39 years.

Ahearn then served as the home of the Kansas State Wildcats from 1950 until Bramlage opened in November of 1988.

Ahearn Fieldhouse: 1950 - 1987, 38 years

Bramlage has been in operation since 1988 and as we all look at it, we all realize it has not kept up with the growth of all our other athletic facilities, nor is it in line with our ability to raise a little  :kstategrad: and replace the home of our men's basketball team every 3-1/2 decades or so. Someone needs to inform Gene that it's time for him to justify his salary, fire oscar, and start building us a proper location... again.

Bramalge Coliseum: 1988 - present, 34 years and counting.

Yeah shooter, you described the plans that I've been privy to. One thing to look out for with Bramlage renovation is trying to either figure out a way to do them over the course of a basketball season, because 7 months won't be nearly long enough to get them done, or what will the plan be for a home for the two basketball teams if it's decided to do all the renovation in one fell swoop.

Well if oscar keeps his job then just do them during the season. There won't be anyone in the seats anyways.

Well, the outside won't really work now since the renovations to BSFS, but damn... this is so beautiful inside.

Wow, I didn't realize this initially, but this week marks 10 years since Charlie Weis was announced as the new head football coach of KU.

Apparently, if you're the type of person that can't make it Louisiana University, and are forced to leave the institution due to poor grades, your next best option is to become a professor at LSU.

If we get him signed, would be interesting to see if we could get him to pose for promotional photos with the Classy Cats. My guess is that LOT of KSU fans would like to see pics of chicks with Penix.
I unfollowed a couple of weirdos that would tweet at classy cats whenever they saw them on tv.

I'm surprised any Classy Cats still have twitter. That generation seems must more Instagram focused.

My Dad (a CPA) was wondering if the students that receive some type of benefit will have to file a tax return in every state they play a game in.  He said that in the continuous learning training he takes to maintain his CPA, the answer to that is not really known.  Maybe it depends on how they are compensated I guess.
Why? Where does he live, and where is he employed? Does Steve Dave have to file a state income tax for every place he travels to on business?

That's what I was thinking. I've worked in multiple states before for the same company, but I only had to file a tax return for the state where I lived/resided. Just because a person's work requires them to cross state lines doesn't mean they need multiple tax returns.

The picture is now complete

SEC: Georgia fell apart, Alabama won convincingly, and now the SEC has two teams in.

Big 10: Michigan is in.

Big XII: Gundy gonna Gundy. OSU had multiple trips inside the 10 and just couldn't get it done. The game rates as 10 out of 10 as far as excitement goes, but Okie Light was in control of its own destiny, and let it slip away. The Big XII cannibalizes itself again.

Pac: xxx

ACC: xxx

Others: Congratulations to Cincinnati on becoming the first G5 team to make the playoffs!

The only other thing worth mentioning is this quote from CFP selection committee chair Gary Barta
Quote
The committee gave no consideration to avoiding a rematch between the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs in the first round when seeding the teams.

Which we all know is complete and total horseshit.

Awesome news. Obviously just as interested in who we get but this gives me a lot of hope for KSUFB.

I wouldn't be surprised if they stole the Baylor coaching staff.

I would absolutely bathe in all the Rapelor tears if that happened.

He is Nebraska's all time leader in total yards over 10k

Safe to say he will produce more here than will howard, Jaren Lewis (LMAO) or Jake Rubley will next year.

... combined.

What is the case for keeping him? How would we NOT improve by replacing him with a better coordinator?

Of course we improve by replacing him with a better coordinator.  The argument is that it's not a given that we get a better coordinator

This is the type of thinking you employ when you've got a Pelini or Gundy winning 10 games a year and you're questioning whether you should push for a coaching change.

It's not what you worry about when you're limping into a 7-5 regular season and needing to inject life and energy into your program.

The way you phrased your question was that a better coordinator was a given.  I'm all for making a change but there is still risk worth acknowledging.

Did you watch the same Texas game the rest of us did? How would a coordinator have called a worse game?

Yes, there is certainly a risk there that things could somehow get even worse, but I think that risk is outweighed by getting rid of the aggravating play calling and frustration of the players/transfers that will be caused by keeping the mess that is Mess.

Is Martinez any good? I really haven't payed that much attention to Nebraska football during the Frost era other than seeing the scores and laughing. It's hard to imagine he could be good at all and still lose to teams like Illinois.

I have watched exactly 0 games of his and am 100% confident saying that he is better than Will Howard.

Getting a nubs reject QB and then winning 9+ games with him next year would be wonderful. The tears would be delicious.

I want CK to do so well that a school throws stupid money at him to try and poach him. Do you think anyone's going to try and steal a marginally better than .500 coach who keeps his besties on his staff with him wherever he goes?

I think it's pretty naive to think not replacing the OC is all that's preventing CK from achieving significantly more than he is now.

Let's ask ourselves this question a different way. We had a defense that was good enough to win the conference this year. There were only 3 teams able to score more than 30 points on us all year, and all 3 of those teams spent time in the top 10 rankings. Most opponents struggled just to make it to 20, including current #9 Baylor. Even a marginally above average offense in the Big XII should be able to score 4 touchdowns and a field goal.  Instead, in 12 games, we limped along and constantly struggled to score points in the 2nd half of games despite having a pretty decent 6th year QB and arguably one of the better RBs in program history. Messingham has had questionable play calling follow him his entire career, so the issues are not just isolated to our program, and this season it was on full display in several of our loses.

What is the case for keeping him? How would we NOT improve by replacing him with a better coordinator?

OU's AD Joe Castiglione is one of the best and football means as much to OU as it does anywhere.  Mark Stoops seems like the logical guy but he just signed an extension.

Jeff Traylor at UTSA  is super connected as a former Tx HS coach and OU has clearly been easiest place to win at vs UT & ATM, i could see OU hiring him to try refocus on the elite Texas recruits that have been going SEC or to Ohio State.

Imagine watching UT fans lose their minds as Traylor leaves the state for their hated rival while they're stuck with Sark who's going to miss a bowl game next year.

If he's not gone by now do we assume he won't be gone? Or wait until bowl game or what?

There are too many changes/staffs taking shape that if we don't do it soon, we're going to likely be stuck with someone just as bad.

I mean, I don't think Mess is as bad as everyone thinks, but we hired Hazelton after signing day.

I was on the fence but the last two games pushed me towards wanting him gone.  To come up empty in the second half against UT with the field position we had is unforgivable.

I'll forgive it based on the overall body of work. I'd also be OK with replacing him, but people are acting like Klieman's career would be destroyed if Mess comes back, which I think is just a tad extreme.

I don't. Messingham is a proven loser. Keeping proven losers on your coaching staff means you're a loser as well.

I want CK to do so well that a school throws stupid money at him to try and poach him. Do you think anyone's going to try and steal a marginally better than .500 coach who keeps his besties on his staff with him wherever he goes?

Don't we need to keep Klein around in some capacity so that we are a lock for his expected progeny?

And now I'm wondering just exactly what the progeny of an M1 Abrams cross bred with a Lamborghini Countach 'would' look like...

I'm betting it looks like the dude in the Twisted Metal video game that had wheels for arms.

So does this mean we'll find an even more painful way to lose to a bad OU team next year like we did UT this year?

if he doesn't have it in him to fire mess, it's over for him. but ksu embraced the culture of hiring their best buds, so we kind of deserve it.
Yep. And Gene doesn't have the stones to tell him Mess has to go

My worst fear is that this is true and ends up happening. If so, might as well give up on KSU football.
