Unpopular opinion: The view from the football complex looking north is better than the view from the stadium looking south.

Hope the hill and hill lovers aren't too offended.

So, all that's left is the east side now. Any idea where they're going to play next year, or if they've finally secured all the funding they need?

You people probably don't even report your full tipped income to the irs smdh

This admonition would be more appropriate on the phog.

screaming to everyone that will listen that a call was clear and obvious is usually a solid indicator that the call was complete bullshit

Does that also work with a no-call? I'm just thinking about Svi Mahalek (sp?) when he had the gather step, a euro-step, the extra layup step, an adjustment step (in case you are jumping with the wrong leg), a pivot step and the blue-blood courtesy step to make the game winning layup against us that was apparently all legal.

Baylor should not be in this conference. They didn't belong back when the Texas legislature strong armed UT and A&M into bringing them along back when the SWC fell apart, they didn't belong back when they were murdering and raping their way out of obscurity, and they don't belong today thanks to their enrollment size, lack of a national audience, and continual clout of bs that comes along with them everywhere they go.

lol, they've won like 5 team national championships the last 19 seasons, either second or third in the conference. If they don't belong, none of us do.

TCU worked their way back in by being nationally relevant, despite not being in a power conference for years. They updated their stadium, marketed their brand (as much as they could) and scheduled games against opponents to keep themselves in the conversation.

Do you really think Baylor would have done the same if the roles had been reversed?

Kansas State Football / Re: How good is Will Howard???

Lots of good discussion about 'ole Howard in here so I'll just throw my take in on it.

2020 was a crap year for everyone, and with half our team out at any given point I was disappointed, but not upset with how Will played. He had very little time in the program, lots of distractions going on around him and the program, and a fair amount of volatility.

2021 was quite an upsetting year. Between his turnovers, his concrete feet, and almost always overthrowing receivers and costing us downs, I was completely sure that Howard was not a D1 quarterback. I'm fairly certain I even came in here and said as much. The only redeeming thing that came out of that season was a bowl win and us firing Messingham after the disaster that was the Texas game. I was also completely sure that when Martinez went down in 2022 that our season was over. Howard had shown next to no improvement (in my opinion) between his freshman and sophomore years so...

I'm thankful that I was wrong.

All in all, I think Howard was an above average quarterback that, when surrounded by the right tools, can really shine. I don't think he'll end up being one of the greats though who's able to take the team on his shoulders and go on to victory. We'll always have the Dr. Pepper though.

The student section chanting "firing Dick Lint"as one during all home games might help.

Tang will just tell them to knock it off

Tang only has power as long as he wins. If he starts losing, the students will stop listening.

Reminds me, I'm going to buy pop tart tomorrow for the first time in probably 20 years. trying to decide on what flavor.

The last time I ate Pop Tarts was in the spring of 2010. I had missed breakfast and was getting really hungry prior to lunch. I grabbed a pair of frosted strawberry toaster pastries from the vending machines in Justin Hall and began chowing down. I had been trying to eat fairly clean for the past few months so my stomach didn't appreciate the sugar bomb that I hit it with. I flipped the packaging over to read the "nutrition" label and that's when I said... never again.

I am willing to reconsider though if we bring back a trophy that can actually toast.

So, ACC's ESPN contract extends to 2035-2036?  Wouldn't it be ironic if broadcast rights revenue contracted between now and then, and other conferences had to settle for less than what the ACC receives now?  SEC / big 10 / Big 12 all come up for negotiation before 2030.  Decreasing revenue is not that far-fetched of an idea, fans are becoming disgruntled at realignment and elimination of regional rivalries.  That my translate into fewer eyeballs on FBS games.

It's definitely going to decrease, whether the ratings do or not, although I think the expanded playoffs will help with the ratings. The Big 12 will likely end up with less, unless Yormark can figure out a way to uncouple basketball rights. The SEC and Big 10's rights won't decrease by enough to get in the neighborhood of the ACC and Big 12.

Not only do I believe the money will decrease, I believe the ratings will as well. This continues to shape up to be repeats of the same seasons over and over and over with the same 6-8 programs essentially "buying" their way into the finals. People will eventually get sick of it.

The responses to the breakup letter came rolling in. The presidents of Oregon, Arizona and Arizona State, all of whom had secured new conferences, were somber but supportive.

The two schools most jilted by UW and Oregon’s decisions were their in-state rivals, Washington State and Oregon State. UW and Oregon’s decision will likely cost WSU and OSU tens of millions of dollars.

WSU President Kirk Schulz went for gallows humor.

“Remaining institutions are fighting for our athletic lives right now. Our financial modeling of a 40% budget reduction in athletics is tough and will certainly be career ending for much of our current leadership,” he wrote in response. “If I deliver a pizza to your door on my next job — please give me a nice tip!!”

Enjoyed the hell out of this.

I am simply reminded of how much I still hate him.

I had no idea Jordan Peterson coached football, they have to be worried about losing him to aggie

Could someone explain to me how "co" coordinators work? Do they alternate between series? Does one handle things on one side of the field while the other gets the call when the team crosses the 50? Perhaps one gets 1st down calls while the other gets 2nd and 3rd?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Petrino back to pig aggie as OC is hilarious

Yes! I loved seeing the pics of him in the neck brace today and remembering that wonderful time. Also appreciated how awkward a situation that is and will be for everyone involved.

It's what arKansas deserves.

I swear I remember cords and temporary power being ran all over the place in the old Nelson press box by the last game of the 2012 season because contractors had already started ripping stuff out of there. We played Texas on Dec 1st and blew that thing up on Dec 15th.

I find it hard to imagine a contractor hasn't been allowed to start because of funding questions. I don't think they'll get everything finished, but to not even start...

how bad exactly is the weather going to suck my ass?

It's going to be awful. Drink lots and bundle up

LL might not be Pelini but he's definitely the biggest red ass in the league. But probably more whiny than ragey compared to Bo.

It seems more whiny than ragey but tomato.  I think Lance is constantly auditioning for the step up job he wants.  Every loss to us pushes back that plan back.  That Iowa state idiot has shown you must strike while the iron is hot.

100% MC had his chance to move up and blew it.

I did some math and if we hadn't touched our stadium, it would take us $375-400 million today to do all the work we have done in the last 12 or so years (WSC, Vanier, NEZ Fun Zone, Field Wall, Shamrock Zone, New Indoor).

It's wild they're going to spend that much for so little and still be so far behind us.

The more I visit the other Big XII stadiums, the more I realize how fortunate we were to make the additions and renovations that we did at the time we did them. Our stadium truly is better than most.

45
I've got a couple ku friends and they're all talking about how they're going to put both sets of goal posts into their little pond when they pull off the upset. Honestly, I don't think I've seen them this excited or the confidence level this high since Miles's first year as a head coach. I was at that game in Lawrence too.

Personally, I think it's a good thing as we need them to actually be competitive in football if we ever hope to get ratings for this game up. The moneyline may be -9.5 but I everything I've seen this season by both teams indicates we win by +17.

46
Guys, almost zero KU fans have ever set foot in an opposing school’s stadium. They will have no idea what they are missing.  Whatever they build, their fans will simply assume it must be the best in the league, if not the entire country.

Being the architect or general contractor for anything at KU is the easiest job in the world.

It's a little sad how true this is. Outside of a few with the will and means to travel to an away football game, they really don't comprehend how far behind they are.

I still don't believe they're going to get it completed. These cost overruns and unrealistic estimates are going to cut this whole thing down at the knees.

It would be very Big XII like to leak this to the media to gauge the reaction and then seeing it explode like this, walk back and be all "just kidding as we never changed the website".

Considering OkState is probably not going 2-0 to end the season, this is all going to be moot and the 'ship will be OU vs. Texas.  They are going to be chanting S-E-C in Arlington...

Yes on the first part, but I also don't think that OU and UT will both win their last two games.

Both the Oklahoma schools have very easy games to end the season. UT is really the only one on upset alert. Where do you see the red dirt teams failing?
