One source said that Gillispie, the night before most games, has everyone in attendance participate in layup lines at the start of practice -- including television and radio broadcasters, strength coaches and assistant coaches.

"If we fumbled the ball, slipped or shot it with the wrong hand, he'd make us run the steps of the arena," the source said. "He got a big kick out of it, but it was demeaning for us as grown men."

Can you imagine Wyatt and Stanbot running stairs in the OOD? Oh man.

Really been interested lately in old school studies and experiments where rules and regulations were minimal. It's pretty crazy what you used to be able to do.

Great outing by both pitchers. A duel of #1 draft picks. Sadly, this is just a glimpse of what Hochevar coulda/shoulda/woulda been. Price is what we all imagined Hoch would be on draft day in 2006. Thus, just another depressing reality of being a Royals fan. At least this gem put his ERA below 5 for the season  :flush:

A town in which a fire has been burning beneath for over 50 years and is expected to burn for another 250. The place is now a ghost town with toxic gases spewing up from the ground. I guess Silent Hill was based off of it. Would love to explore this place.

Apparently, "club estimates suggest it would likely cost $2.5 million to retain him next season through arbitration.  That amount was deemed too high when weighed against the alternatives."

... the alternatives being???  spending some money for a decent ballplayer?

IMO the bullpen will be fine. My issue is did we just think this through yesterday? I mean, we had the trade deadline looming. Obviously he isn't worthy to be traded for some hot up and coming prospect, but at least get SOMETHING for him. Hell, sell him for cash. I mean, we're being fed all this "we're on a budget" talk and "every dollar counts" and now we're just giving players away? And a guy who's put together a solid season for us? We're always reminded that this is a business, but moves like this are completely contradictory.

Yuni DFA'd. Was complaining about playing time and his attitude didn't mesh well with the rest of the team.  Got rid of Sanchez, Broxton and now Yuni. Please god let Francoeur be next.

Baffling move to bring Abreu up instead of Giavotella. In Omaha this year:

Abreu .322/.347/.492
Giavotella .332/.419/.498

I guess we are the Royals. And this is Dayton Moore.

Solid get for Broxton. Essentially, Moore worked this one well. he bought Broxton low, banking on him coming back from his injury with the Dodgers, and sold him high (not super high, but high enough). IMO the closer role is a vastly overrated role on the staff. Especially on a crap team. I don't compliment DM much, but I have do give it to him. He does have a great eye for minor league talent. I am anxious to see how these pick ups play into next year. They're both Rule 5 eligible next year so we'll need them on the 40 man roster or risk losing them.

It's no secret. Our starting pitching is horrendous. Like I said earlier in the thread, if DM and DG care one iota about winning next year, they need to pick up two above average arms. History has shown that it's incredibly difficult to develop a rotation from your farm system. Sure you can get a solid guy or two who lives up to expectations, but picking up free agents and acquiring by way of trades are a must. Does it cost money? Of course. But it's essential. Why not bring Odorizzi up? I mean, really, what's the worst that can happen? We really can't get much worse.

Perhaps the most baffling moves to me are continually putting Francoeur and Betancourt in the lineup. I mean, they are both simply terrible. You can argue about being a "clubhouse guy" all you want, but the bottom line is you've gotta produce. And he doesn't. By a long shot. Will Meyers is clowning AAA. Get his ass up here already. The fans will come out to see him. Why are we waiting? And Yuniesky, my god. He was crap for us before. He was crap for Milwaukee. And he's crap for us now. A below average bat and zero mobility in the field. Why he sniffs the field on a regular basis is beyond me. Get Giavetella back up here to get some reps. We gave him all of 21 games, he had a tough time, so we immediately send him down? What happened to DM's "patience" he has demanded from us fans? Guess it's not a two way street.

Aaron Paul was on Leno the other night and they pulled up his old Price Is Right footage. Great stuff.

Love this show. (Both TPIR and BB)

Decent get for the Royals. Sanchez was gone regardless. Now we just eat $1 mil in salary. The numbers show Guthrie is decent outside of Coors (shocking) and coming into a pitchers park can only help things. He's an innings eater, which our bullpen is in desperate need of. He won't be anything more than average but let's face it, average is pretty good in this rotation. Gets rid of the 5th man merry-go-round spot start. Plus, he's a likeable guy who, unlike Sanchez, gives a crap. I like the get. Would still like to add two solid arms via trade or free agency. If Glass and DM are serious about contending for even the Central next year, this is a must.

Mitch Maier  :frown:

eff dayton moore. should have been sanchez or bourgeois.

Sanchez. But, of course, Sanchez will continue to start since DM couldn't possibly come to terms with the fact that the Melky trade didn't turn out in his favor. Just write him off as this year's Francis and hope he's gone sooner than later. If we're not bringing up Odorizzi (or hell, even if we are) why not give Doug Davis a shot? He's been solid in Omaha and couldn't possibly be worse than Sanchez.

Mair was a great guy to have around. He knew his role, never bitched or complained about playing time or being moved around. Just did his thing and cashed his check. Even if it has been in his best interest to move elsewhere. I'll miss him.

LOVE this.

I get this every now and then without any drugs.

You can run around and do whatever you want, knowing there won't be any consequences.

If there's a crazy situation going on with other people in my dream, I'll tell them not to worry. It's just a dream and it isn't real. Usually they don't believe me, but on occasion they'll breathe a sign of relief and realize everything's a dream too. Sometimes it takes something superhuman for me to realize I'm dreaming. For instance, if I'm drowning and I'm about to "die" and take a breath while underwater, I realize it's a dream when I don't "die". Then I can swim around, breathing underwater, doing crazy crap. I could go on and on about this. Truly elite.

Too many old naked dude stories to count. I guess at a certain age you just stop caring?  :ck:

Got a lot of the 50-something year old racquetball dudes at my gym. They are there pretty much every day waddling around in that box with their buddies, hitting the ball around using minimal effort. Reminds me a lot of a softball beer league. Yet every time they step out into the hallway, they're sweating like Shaq at the free throw line, breathing real hard in close quarters. Smells terrible.  :barf:

Also have a frail, Jewish rabbi who loves the racquetball. Probably 60 years old, weighs like 100 lbs. Got the little cap on and curls and everything. Goes around small talking everyone. I just put in my headphones and avoid at all costs.

Would never shower there. Bathroom is used for pissing only, washing hands and GTFO.

Mom and gf are the exact opposite of each other.

Mom used to meticulously cut coupons at home and take her Big Chief tablet of a list to Dillons. I was drug along. If there wasn't a coupon for it or it wasn't on sale, we weren't getting it. Mostly generic brands, with the exception of a few bigger entrĂ©es (with coupons of course). And she always found 14 people she knew to talk to. All the meanwhile little DD is standing there all  :bang:, bored out of his mind. Dad got to stay home.

The gf knows no bounds when it comes to spending money. Goes into the store with the list in her head. Refuses to buy any generic stuff because it's "too cheap". Buys stuff because the packaging "looks cute". All the meanwhile older DD is standing there all  :curse:, fuming at the logic. The only reason I doesn't say anything is because she' a damn good cook. It's almost worth knocking her up to produce a minion to go with her so I can stay home.

I avoid them at all costs.

Just got off a flight from Chicago to Phoenix. When doing the usual  :blah: "flight time is yadda yadda and the weather in Phoenix is yadda yadda" thing, the pilot says, "We'll be heading southwest right over beautiful Manhattan, KS"
