Congrats to Lawrence for making Forbes list of top small cities for business!

http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2011/aug/02/forbes-calls-lawrence-top-small-place-business-ku-/

Interesting it lists KU as one of the best country western universities, must be all that wheat wavin'.

Is this sufficient proof to declare another Helms title? Or would you rather wait 40 years to declare it.

ku - Summer of 2011 Power Rankings Helms National Champions.  :emawkid:

Should we get one for being ranked top 5 last yr?  Not sure being ranked #15 is too great.  Isn't this their lowest preseason rankings in years?

Among the prominent prospects who played in Salinas' program are Juwann McClellan (Arizona), Joseph Jones (Texas A&M), Dexter Pittman (Texas) and Cartier Martin (Kansas State), the last of whom spent last season with the NBA's Washington Wizards.

take down wooly

It is interesting that they gave CMart NBA cred, can't hurt.

Prophetic comment by bknight about selby before half...An example of seff's trashing technique after the fact?

Watched him "chop wood" this a.m. at the father son camp.  His handles are sick for a 7fter!  He was doing handle drills better than Nino & Shane yesterday...MI3 was solid though

Can my #K-State tweeps follow @KjHill11 and show him some love? All these other schools are showing him tons of love! #EMAW

pastrana wants everyone to follow hill.

He retweeted around a thousand tweets that mentioned him going to UK. Really enjoyed the one where he compared himself to Knight, Wall and Rose as a PG under Calipari, not to mention the retweet about him being a lottery pick.

In the midst of all that he retweeted some girl telling him to come to K-State. Had the emaw hashtag in it.

Nice  :kstategrad:

Manhattan, KS is #1 on the Forbes 2011 list of "Best Small Places for Business and Careers."

Nice seeing other Big Twen cities like Ames, Columbia, and College Station behind us in the top 25.

I'm sure Topeka and Lawrence were in the large market group and ahead of Wichita.

Why isn't Little Ag School on the Prairie State in the AAU?

Easy on the AAU talk, Beems.  Word is that you guys are next on the chopping block.

Ag state U's are going to be targeted given the tightening of NIH funding.  Will be interesting how med schools respond since many are on soft $$ or clinic fees, not paid from tuition.

Self has had four lottery picks in the last two years.  What are you talking about?

So Self got one tourney win per lottery pick. Does not bode well for next year.

Looks like Franks tornament win:lottery pick ratio is another indicator that Frank's better

Manhattan just got its sexy back.  :gocho:

Extra sexy...DK was already here.

amazing all these guys coming back to Little College on the Prairie   :kstatriot:

Wow, ever since Bob Hemmenway's demand that KU do whatever it took to become a Top 50 U.S. News University they have done nothing but plummet down the charts.

Epic Fail.

They can't be what they aren't.  They need to dump the crappy law/med school and focus on liberal arts.  They might get down below 100.

The med school is probably the only thing that is keeping them in tier 1. Most rankings heavily favor schools with med schools, even if they're crapty.

I'm guessing NIH funds are drying up for them given the warning letter from Chancellor BGL a few months ago, shortly before (or after?) UNL got the axe from AAU.

is tulsa 5a or 6a?

LOL at self not being good enough to start at a real school

When did CStew play at Broken Arrow?  His hs team may have played against seff's team, right?  Stew's team prolly won since didn't even go to the NIT for his first 5 yrs.

I wonder if Martin asks seff how hard it was not to get to any TornAments his first 5 yrs...and then chuckles a bit.

89
Anyone know how many lottery picks K-State and Mizzou have produced over the past couple years?

 :gocho:

now compare it to tourney wins and let's see who's the best coach

Are you saying Frank Martin is a better coach than Bill Self?

we're going to have to see the last couple of year's worth of data to be sure.

Didn't it take seff 10 yrs to get to his first E8?  pitiful compared to Martin's standards

St. Louis and Omaha?  You comparing KU to SLU and Creighton?  Seems about right.

Creighton is academically superior.  And probably athletically also.

Wrong again.

 :kstategrad:

Wow, you do realize Creighton is ranked in a different category (regional univs, not national).  It's also #1 in that category.  Interesting that KU is tied with a school that was just kicked out of the AAU.

Pffffffftttttttt.... Little Ag School on the Prairie State isn't even in the AAU.

Tap out noted...you need to go back to see Yoda, those jmt's just aren't effective anymore.

Yes, beems you are wrong again

Since when did Creighton = St. Louis?

Interesting that we're debating whether Creighton or SLU is good comparison for KU (SLU is now better)...Btw, you never specified Creighton.

Anyone ever tell you that you sound funny when you backpedal?

Sucks that selby hates ku so much

It's a sinking ship, awash in debt and far behind it's in-state competition.

With crop prices surging the gap only grows.

Aren't they the wheat university?  Would think the wheat they're waving would be doing them some good.  Maybe we should start waving money  :kstategrad:

Wreck while burning?  Could be the start of the internal combustion meatgoat.

I thought the point of this thread is to discuss total redneck brainstorming on how to spruce up the dump in Lawrencetucky, not to blast holes in various hickbilly ideas.

Was I wrong?  sd?

Scare Crows for empty seats.

I like this idea. Instead of renewing their season tickets, their fans could have the option to pay $10 to have a scarecrow placed in their seat for the entire season. Having a stadium 2/3 full of scarecrows would be pretty intimidating IMO. :ohno:

The silence would be deafening.  You hear that, kids?  That's the sounds of the scarecrows at harvest time.  That reminds me...we need shrieking eels for the lazy river of doom.

Any good songs from Jeepers Creepers they could use during the game?

Explain to me how Kyrie Irving and Josh Selby's situations are different?

Two different players with different skill sets.

Yeah, one was awesome and supported, the other was awesome and trashed by his coach

98
4 taken in 1st rd in one yr?

Has Kansas (KSU + KU) ever done that?  Duke >>> the state of Kansas?

A supportive/unselfish coach.

Unselfish?  Supportive I'll buy

Yep, KU is really hurting for talent.  You got that one right, steve.

Is this the first yr since Self arrived that none of the players have hada McD jersey?  Not that they're always great, but would rather have a McD than a dood that no other top program wanted.
