LOL at Ben. Classic projection. Seff is a god, and having rosters full of 5-star players doesn't have anything to do with KU's success.
Squawk fans continually delude themselves. "Those guys will suck after Huggy leaves." "They'll suck after Beasley and Walker leave." "They'll suck after Clemente leaves." "They'll suck after Pullen leaves." They can't bring themselves to believe that the primary driver of our success is Frank Martin. They don't want to believe this, because it means K-State will continue to be good, and it means Frank Martin is able to get more out of 3-star players than Seff can get out of 5-star players. Deep down they know this, which is why they were so excited when they thought Martin might be leaving for Miami.
Squawk fans keep drinking the crimson and blue kool-aid, having forgotten that Seff was inches away from losing to Davidson. What if they had to add Davidson to the list that includes Bucknell, Bradley, UNI, and VCU? Or what if Chalmers hadn't hit that buzzer beater? Twice in that tournament Bill Self was seconds away from being a loser, and twice he was saved. That National Championship bought him lots of goodwill, but some of the more rational fans are realizing that that was a fluke and that flaming out to mid-majors is more the norm with Seff. A KU grad friend of mine finally got fed up and gave away his KU gear after the VCU embarrassment. Now Seff is even having trouble recruiting, something that should be automatic at KU. The elite prospects have finally wised up. Why play for a coach who habitually chokes in the NCAAs? Not to mention kills your NBA draft stock? Josh Selby knows all too well.
