And the rolling blackouts have begun.  House temp dropped 8 degrees in 25 minutes in spite of having all new exterior walls and attic insulation.

It was fun until this crap started and now I am out.

That really sucks, but you should also direct your anger at Texas being Texas and deciding that having their own grid for the sake of being Texas was/is a bad idea.

Yes, it really sets us up for failure when there is a winter storm warning covering the entire state for the first time ever occurs...

Maybe we will be better prepared when the 2nd time ever occurs!

Not the first time you've had rolling blackouts (been about a decade) but you all do you

We were supposed to get 12-20 inches today. I am ready with my snow shovel. So far, very little snow. Total bullshit.

I shredded my driveway and sidewalk with my battery powered snow blower yesterday.  It was dry chowder and felt amazing watching it.

I had people cancelling their appointments for this week last Thursday and Friday. I just imagined they saw those wrecks and said "nope".

It's probably for the best.  Texans driving up in the CO mountains for their ski trips are pretty lol for the whole community

The Metroplex doesn't really have the infrastructure to deal with this kind of weather. Hunkering down is the smart play.

Unless they are bringing tons of additional capacity online, I don't see an easy way out of this for Texans. As soon as the power comes back, heaters will be running like crazy in people's 40 degree homes...

Not me, my crap busted.  The water mitigation and plumbing contingent in the metro are going to make ridiculous sums of cash.

Is the Midwest in for some pretty nasty floods when we finally start thawing out?

Luckily the pipes that would be a problem this time broke like 2 or 3 years ago when we had an extended 0ish time period. Got them fixed and added some electric pipe heaters that kick on automatically.  Seems to be holding up.

I've done v little research, but i don't think the snowpack has been that ridiculous this year. As long as it doesn't get extremely warm quickly, i think it will be an average year.
