Frozen pipes!  :bang: :curse:

how old is your house? This is definitely the worst cold snap since I've owned a house. A little worried.
Sometimes I think of the Book of Job and how God likes to really eff with people.

My house is 100 years old. I opened the cabinet under the kitchen sink and I have water dripping from the faucet.

For Christmas I asked for these things that my mom makes from old jeans and sand. They're about the size of a baseball bat and you stick them behind the door.

When should I drip faucets? Is opening the cabinets around the pipes enough? There is a supply line for an upstairs shower that goes through an outside wall  that I'm a bit worried about.

also a good idea to shut off the water to any external pipes (outdoor faucets/hoses, etc.).

Now that I've been a homeowner for almost 11 months i'm kind of an expert on these sorts of things.

Mrs Wacky is pretty much the handywomen of this house, so she handles all IT issues and house projects with the house. I just do as I'm told.

Snagged a space heater on Amazon today to put in the basement. It's fine right now but man there are some scary temps later this week.

I have an unfinished Michigan style basement. That's one that was originally a crawl space then they later put in a walk-in basement.

I heard that helps keep your pipes from freezing.  I haven't had a issue here yet, but I'm going to be paranoid.

I work in my basement every day. My house is split level, so it's finished. It gets cold af down here, but I have everything that I need to work.
