Willie Cauley (Spearville, Kan./ Olathe Northwest)
2012, C, 7-1, 210 pounds
Cauley was impressive with his great length and mobility. He runs the floor like a deer and attacks the rim from short distances. Cauley is also a top-notch passer, especially to cutters and in high-low situations. Length, skill and upside make him a potentially special player.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera (Indianapolis/Oak Hill) gets credit in our book. This is the second camp he's stepped out of his comfort zone and handled point guard duties. A natural scorer and power guard, he's committed to learning the position and playing through mistakes for the betterment of his game long term.

at king james showcase in chicago. there are some chicago teams, obviously, but most other teams there are from the northern midwest area. not many teams kstate has ever recruited from.

FWIW, Missouri recently offered Cauley. I think the update linked below may have slipped through the cracks, not that it's incredibly revealing but he does name a Top 5 and it sounds like the offensive role he'll be asked to play is an important factor affecting his school choice:

"My top five would be Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and probably New Mexico," said Cauley, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound athletic player from Olathe, Kan., who is ranked the nation's No. 41 senior prospect.

Cauley said he likes those schools because they would allow him to play more power forward or a combination of power forward and center and that he prefers not to be a strictly low-post player."

The irony here pertaining to yours truly is that this thread makes me sad. Not because I'm sad because I know we're not going to get all these studs. I'm sad because I'm apathetic about not getting all these studs. Reminds me of my attitude towards football recruiting. That shouldn't happen and it makes me feel bad for it. meh

that he didn't even list kstate in his top 4 and martin and the staff apparently spent more time watching him than they did ellis, cauley or anyone else.

chances of landing smart aside, i'm all for recruiting him as long as possible, but i'd think a 2012 big and 2013s at every position would be higher priorities.
