Whats ridiculous about watching Smart?

that he didn't even list kstate in his top 4 and martin and the staff apparently spent more time watching him than they did ellis, cauley or anyone else.

chances of landing smart aside, i'm all for recruiting him as long as possible, but i'd think a 2012 big and 2013s at every position would be higher priorities.
FWIW, I dont think Smart has ever officially announced a trim list himself.  Its all speculation from analysts and I think some people close to Smart.  I will say this, Smart is a player who seems perfect for Frank and K-State.

Agreed. However, I don't think Smart is drawn to K-State because of this.

I want Smart with every fiber of my being.  If there is even a remote chance of landing him, I'm all for recruiting the crap out of him.  The coaches should be living out of suitcases right now, the other targets will get their love as well.

D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera, PG, Spiece Indy Heat- Plain and simple, Smith-Rivera is a gamer. He's so confident in his offense and strong that he never has to force anything. When Spiece needed him the most during an 11-point, second-half comeback win he was at his best. First he drilled a tough step back three-pointer to cut the lead to one and then he won the game on a drive for the hoop plus a foul shot with just 6.4 seconds to go. UCLA's Ben Howland, Ohio State's Thad Matta, Baylor's Scott Drew, as well as assistants from Texas and Louisville were among those on hand for him. Rick Pitino made it for the night session.

prolly too busy watching smart.

From the Lebron camp late last week, DSR played very well and still giving us the mention, Cauley neglecting his roots and where his 1st offer came from(Yes, I'm KSTATEO):

"One of the interesting topics at the LeBron James Skills Academy has been what position to list D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera at.

The 6-foot-2 guard that is headed to Mouth of Wilson (Va.) Oak Hill next season, has played both positions in Akron and has had some success.

A true scorer, Smith-Rivera has shot it quite well and in the evening session on Thursday was able to get to the rim and finish.

“I would like to play point guard, but I don’t have to,” Smith-Rivera said at camp. “It’s something I can handle. I can play both.”

Smith-Rivera said his list consists of Georgetown, Texas, Baylor, Kansas State, UCLA, Michigan State, Kentucky, Louisville and Xavier. "

*Willie Cauley listed Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas State, Georgia, Miami, New Mexico and Texas Tech. He said Alabama, Florida and Oklahoma State are starting to stand out."

“I don’t have any top schools, but all of the schools recruiting me are recruiting me pretty hard,” said Smith-Rivera.

“Kansas State, Georgetown, Xavier, Texas, Baylor, and UCLA are all coming after me right now.  I’m looking for the right system and just how the coach trusts his players.  I think that when you play, at the end of the day, you should have some sort of freedom with the ball instead of having that ‘I don’t want to mess up attitude.’  That’s what I’m looking for.”

He still has a chance to be Capel 2.0 and take away Frank's title of lord of the mentions.

Laimonas Chatkevicius, C, MoKan Elite- He's still adjusting to the American game, but the big 6-foot-10 center is making an impression on college coaches. He's already big and has a body that will easily carry more weight when he hits a college weight room. Not a high flyer, but he is long, blocks shots and shows some soft touch on short jumpers. Missouri was the first to offer while Arkansas, Kansas State, Xavier, Ole Miss, Ohio and Wichita State are all starting to poke around.

yes, moose.  there are other kstate references in the same story, all kc/kansas recruits.

I knew that Michigan fans would let me down, I expect that because we suck at basketball.. So none of our fans would pay money to see rankings of 13yr old BBall players..

Then I was like, Kstate is good in basketball, I bet those emawers have Hoop Scoop subs coming out the ass, I even know where there BBall recruiting thread is, surely they'll come through for me..

kstate fans have an irrational aversion to hoopscoop.

Still burned by the #1 class in the nation, "Wooldridge is turning this thing around", etc.

I mean, just look at this:

Quote
Wednesday, November 20, 2002

The HOOP SCOOP has confirmed that Kansas State has landed 6'8 Jeremiah Massey from Oxnard (JC) CA, who is ranked as the #2 power forward in the junior college ranks by Lindy's Basketball Pre-Season Yearbook and as the #8 power forward in the junior college ranks by the Sporting News Pre-Season Yearbook.  This is big, because Massey is exactly what the Wildcats will need to replace 6'9 Jr Previs Pasco inside a year from now.  Actually Massey, who both scores and rebounds well around the basket, is better offensively right now than Pasco and, as a result, it continues to look like it's only a matter of time before Kansas State head coach Jim Wooldridge elevates the Wildcats into one of the powerhouse teams in the tough Big-12 Conference.  If you will recall, two years ago Kansas State had the 19th best recruiting class by the HOOP SCOOP and a year ago they followed that up with the 10th best recruiting class, which explains why Kansas State has the 13th highest talent rating in the nation based on our Exclusive HOOP SCOOP Talent Ratings for all Teams in the Top 10 Division I Conferences.   It also explains why we think this may be one of the biggest sleepers in the college basketball this season.  And this year Kansas State appears to be on the verge of its third straight top 20 recruiting class, as they currently have the #11-ranked recruiting class in the nation on our list of the Top Recruiting Classes To-Date for the Class of 2003.  If you will recall, we've already reported that they had verbal commitments from 5'7 Dez Willingham from De Soto (H.S.) TX, 6'8 Cartier Martin from Aldine (Nimitz) TX, and 6'4 Lance Harris from Columbia (Hickman) MO, but we also have learned that the Wildcats have landed 6'10 Tyler Hughes from Olathe (North Olathe) KS.  Which means Kansas State should continue to improve a year from now, despite the fact three starters - Pasco, 6'8 Sr Matt Siebrandt, and 6'5 Gilson DeJesus - will graduate after this season.  In addition to Massey, who will step into Pasco's spot, 6'7 Frosh Marques Hayden should be ready to take over for Siebrandt; Martin, Harris, and 6'3 Jr Tim Ellis all will get playing time at both the two and the three spots; and the backcourt should be terrific with 6'2 Jr Frank Richards, who is ranked as the #3 incoming junior college point guard by Sporting News Pre-Season Yearbook, and 6'4 Jarrett Hart, who is ranked as the #4 incoming junior college shooting guard by Sporting News Pre-Season Yearbook, and Willingham, who is ranked #37 nationally in the senior class by the HOOP SCOOP.  In other words, it should be only a matter of time before everybody else starts jumping on this bandwagon.
