Gavin Thurman and Benny Parker are a couple of local products KSU had shown some past interest in, looks like Wichita St, is hot on the trail of both of them right now:

"Three-star four man Gavin Thurman of Wichita (Kan.) Heights will take a visit to Wichita State on Friday. The Shockers are pushing hard for a commitment and doing everything they can to get it before he hits the road with KC Pump 'N Run in July. Creighton and Missouri State have also offered the 6-foot-7 forward.

The Shockers also had one of their top targets in town over the weekend when Kansas City (Kan.) Sumner point guard Benny Parker visited."

Two things.  I have seen Ellis more than everyone and this "KSU has no shot" talking point is nothing more than a stale messageboard talking point made up from people who have no goddamn idea what they're talking about.  Trust me.  I haven't been around since the Duke offer so that admittedly might change things but Ellis and his mother have given no one anything to think that they aren't considering KSU.

Now if we have any serious interest in Thurman :goodbyecruelworld:  He is in no way shape or form a high major basketball player.  He's like Jamar and with 1/16th the strength and aggression.  He's a preety good jump shooter but plays NOOOO defense, and is allergic to the boards.  He's a good scoring big in high school, but for the life of me I can't see how he would translate to the Big 12.

Thurman has paid for one of those websites/"recruiting services" that sell giving kids access to coaches and even they are pitching him as a mid major placement.

The only thing holding this kid back from being an elite level player is his lack of intensity on the glass and on the defensive end.

Wow, he paid for this? Bad wording. How about, "If he can increase his intensity on the glass and on the defensive end, he will be an elite level player." You know, glass half full vs. half empty.

Very boring.
It rough ridin' Greg Swaim, [redacted] is a joke in Oklahoma circles (and Oklahoma is a joke in national circles, do the equation).  No oklahoma teams worth a damn goes to any crap he does and he's too lazy to go to any notable tournaments around here.   What did you expect from a G Swaim interview?

P.S. Gavin Thurman's dad is one of those controlling type dads.

I was also at that game.

Interesting fact about Gary Thurman:  His picture (possibly Leroy Neiman poster) can be seen on the wall of the strip club in the mud wrestling scene in Stripes (where John Candy becomes a mean green fighting machine).

Interesting fact about the above:  I'm about 99.584% sure the above fact is inaccurate.

You could point to a lack of available scollys right now(1) as a big reason for the apparent lack of activity in the Class of '12.

As sys pointed out above, Martin is in Indy for the Adidas Invitational today, he was spotted watching Ellis there along with a slew of other HC's.

We're still right in the hunt for Cauley. Then there's our "big" backup plans: Aaron Durley, Tyrone Haughton, Kenny Thomas, Dom Wilson(??), and really there's just not much that info out there on those dudes right now, maybe that will change during or after the July live period which is upon us.

With the recent AJPC deal, really tough to know if we're still going to be after him or not. If not, don't really know if we would heavily pursue another wing in his absence. We appear to have faded away in the recruitments of previous wing targets Smart, S. Smith, and for the time being, Junior Lomomba.

With the guards, do we REALLY need 1 in this scolly challenged class? All indications are that Sprads will at least be a solid player for us for the next 3 years adn there are high hopes that Rodriguez can be the dynamic creator off the bounce that our roster appear to lack right  now. I'm of the opinion that you can always find a place for a game changer like DSR, but most inidcations are that we're on the outside looking in on that one, so we'll just roll with what we got until '13 comes around, or the '12 scolly reassessment program kicks into gear(aka running off time).

Talked to both W Cauley and P Ellis, their plan is to sign with K-State as cornerstones to GRCOAT 3.0, other great players to sign on as well.

awesome.  we're solid.
