can you use cap one venture points to cover airbnb stays? anyone done this? just pay for the stay on your venture card and then use points on website to reimburse the stay?

Yes they have a feature called Travel Eraser or something silly like that. I've never used airbnb but it applies to hotels so I don't see why airbnb wouldn't be covered. Redeem the points within 60 days and it applies the points towards your balance.

i had like $400 in taxes on my last airfare booking, paid for it with the cap1 card, and then used the cap1 points to cover the taxes.

Upon further review it's called Purchase Eraser and it's good for 90 days afterwards.

That was my first time and only because I got the CSR reminder email. I'll probably use it just once more this year to hit $60 and again for $60 next year to not get mumped by the annual fee. It's not especially convenient given that I'm rarely in a time crunch and there's plenty of places to walk to.

it appears i would be Platinum which is second highest on United, and would be giving up a year of Diamond (top level) on Delta. so less frequent upgrades than if i flew on Delta i imagine. but like i said, the route and schedule is significantly better. would significant reduce my overall travel time. fwiw i won't come close to the dollars needed to get to Premier 1K. basically just wondering if Platinum on United is good.

this is a rough draft of completely subjective tiers of the three main carriers' hubs based on me trying to remember them right now and giving very little thought. lax is gross sometimes but ok some other times and i think there is a new termy for delta iirc.

I have only flown through PHL twice, and it was somewhat recent, but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the airport is.
