Can anyone confirm that Hud said this in the game yesterday  "moose gave Salvy a ball sandwich."   Got a text saying this happened.

Because if so

Ned's postgame explanation was baffling. If we had been up 2 or 3, Shields stays in, but in an effort to prevent a potential loss for him, we pull him.

Ned continues to manage with this "I'm old school, I understand baseball, you're a fan/reporter so you don't get it" attitude.

He's worse than Buddy Bell.

Do we have anything left in the cupboard to trade for a closer?

Hope so. A dominant, consistent closer could make this a special season. Analyzing and will report back.

Not very many power hitting 2-baggers out there, but RF's with big bats may be another matter. That said, I still believe a major stopper is a bigger priority.

I think we have enough guys in our bullpen that have shown flashes of dominance that SHOULD be able to get three outs.  We shouldn't have to trade to find that guy.

Bullpen should be fine. We always seem to remember the blown saves much more clearly than the 1-2-3 innings. This bullpen has blown 3 saves in 13 opportunities. 77% puts us T-9th in MLB. Not completely dominant by any means but a solid number. League average is 68%. The most impressive stat to me is our bullpen holds the opposition to a .288 OBP. They just don't normally let many guys on base which is what they need to do. Would it really be worth giving up a prospect and taking on salary to slightly improve that number? I think most would agree we could use greater improvement elsewhere.

Blown saves happen unless you are Mariano rivera.  Sucks but not meltdown worthy

It was a solid 10

need a RF. frenchy is a black hole. he's got one of the best arms in baseball, but his range has deteriorated to the point that even with his arm, he's a below average fielder.

and let's not even talk about his production at the plate.
"I started calling him John during the game, cause he was rocking it like No. 7 -- like Elway," Harper said."

If we are in position for the playoffs at the deadline, it absolutely is worth trading prospects and taking on salary to improve the bullpen. Getting a RF (really any other RF in MLB) should also be a priority.
