They beat an NL team and swept a bottom 3 team in the AL.  Let's just hold off a little.  Build your momentum morons.

They dominated a bad team, and went .500 against a regular title contender and an average to above average team.  That is exactly what you would hope a playoff contender would do.  Small sample size? Yes. Reason for realistic optimism? Absolutely.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

WIN THE GAMES YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO WIN.  I don't know what others expectations are but mine are set at 85 games.

This is pretty great:

2nd headline on ESPN MLB page right now:

Quote
Migratory Pattern
If new Blue Jay Josh Johnson rediscovers the form (and health) that made him an ace in Miami, he could take flight for big money.

box score of Toronto @ Detroit right now:

Quote
Pitchers       IP    H   R ER BB SO HR   PC-ST   ERA
J Johnson   1.1   7   6   6   2   1   0   56-32   11.05

guys, the twins are a 105+ loss team

Almost never is any time predictably bad.  Very lbbiq on your part Cat Kid

Almost never may be true, but these Twins and these Astros are exceptions.

Have to agree with 8MP, at least as far as Minnesota goes. Minnie has always been an extraordinarily cyclical team, and they're in a downward spiral. Whether they lose 105 is another question, but they'll lose a bunch. I think this will be Gardenhire's last year. Houston? Big losers this year, also.

If that's what you think then you actually agree with me not 8mp

I've been a Twins for for life and I would be amazed if the let Gardy go before he retired. The odds of them hiring someone better are very slim, and they're a very loyal franchise. Gardy was Kellys 3rd base coach, so they clearly like stability.

Yep. BTW- That article is about the likelihood of adding the DH to the NL. "It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when."

meh, I don't care that much. I did kind of like the idea of two leagues with different rules but like I said, don't care that much.

the baseball purists of the NL are going to cry so hard when they add the DH to the NL.

It sounds like most people currently involved with the league are okay with it. Teams are giving pitchers ridiculous contracts lately, the DH gives aging players extra years, the whole interleague play deal... I'd be okay either way with it but I think it needs to be universal and watching a pitcher try to hit isn't nearly as fun as watching a dude like Thome swing for the fences. Just my two cents though.

It is 15 high paying DH jobs vs. 15 long relievers/defensive replacements/situational relievers/pinch hitters. The MLBPA will win out eventually.

Its a weird deal, very complex. Situ lefties will always have a job, d replacements may actually become more valuable. Pinch guys are typically someone that plays a few positions anyway. Just my thoughts.

It isn't that those guys aren't valuable, it's that they don't get paid nearly as much as a DH

I prefer pitchers batting because I really like watching all of the substitutions. It makes for a better game.
