I am glad that Ron Washington did the right thing & picked Butler as the Royals' representative for the ASG. I had heard that he was thinking of selecting Tim Collins or Broxton as the Royals' rep since ASG managers always want a lot of pitching (last year Wash selected Crow as the Royals rep & didn't use him). With Butler on the roster he will be used as the DH for at least 1 at-bat.

Broxton is on the final vote ballot for the last spot, but I think Escobar should been on the final vote instead of Broxton, although Washington selected 5 pitchers for the final vote.

Man, tonight felt good.

The BBTN highlight just now of tonight's game was horrible. They showed the Moose grand slam, but didn't mention it because they were too busy talking about Rasmus's eye.

The official "Is it Myers time?" stat of the night... after tonights game Francoeur had the lowest SLG% of any player in the starting lineup and teams with Pena, Maier, and Betancourt as the only players currently on the 25 man with an OBP% below .300

I think I mentioned a while back that his swing was starting to get really long and it's just gotten worse since. I'm not sure if he has a bad eye, no self control, a swing that's so long that he has to start it before he has any idea what's coming, or a mixture of all 3 but it's ugly.  Pitchers have figured out they don't have to throw anything close to a strike and there's still a good chance he'll never take a walk.  I know he took one tonight but that matches his total for the month of June.

so we all agree that Kevin Seitzer sucks, right?  Super insider royals info:  George Brett told me he sucks and made some crack about he would be his choice if he needed to hire a coach who was super nice to everyone and could lead the team prayer.

he hasn't had much effect, it doesnt' seem. I guess we can give him some credit for somewhat fixing Alex Gordon, i dunno.

we need to get Toronto's hitting coach who turned Bautista into a HR machine, and is doing the same for Encarnacion this year.

true george brett insider info alert that I think I've posted before:  alex was a stubborn POS who wouldn't take coaching until he realized he was going to suck and then had to.  for, like, 3 spring traingings in a row george told him how to hold his hands different or some HBBIQ thing I don't understand and alex wouldn't even try to do it.  just went out there and sucked.  then he realized he was going to suck for infinity and finally started to take coaching and now is better.  I wouldn't give Seitzer any credit for Alex realizing he was on the verge of being a loser.

Does Seitzer get any credit for the Royals being #4 in the AL in batting avg last year, and #5 this year?

the Royals have offered him multiple coaching positions but he doesn't want them.  he is on their staff but only as a spring training hitting advisor.

Because he has a boss job already, He's basically a figure head for the royals doing no actual coaching. He shows up and drinks beer with corporate sponsors then maybe he'll stop by the clubhouse and tell gordo to shorten his swing then heads back to the bar.

Where do they rank on OBP?

Last year #5, this year #8.
Last year tied for #11 in walks, this year dead last in AL. If Seitzer gets credit for the hitting he should also get criticism for the lack of walks this year. Although you can clearly see with Billy for example that he is sacrificing walks for HRs from last year to this year. WILL TAKE.

The Royals also have the least strikeouts in the AL, by a wide margin. So there's that to consider as well.

While the Royals have had some dry spells hitting/scoring, I rarely think of offense as a major problem for this team. Especially when you are throwing a guy like Sanchez out there every 5th game.

Agree, the offense has actually been pretty good the last 30 days or so. Outside of Frenchy, Dyson, and Betencourt that is. And Betencourt has something like 24 RBI's in that span so you can't even complain too much about him. Francouer has more strikeouts than hits in that time period.

Anyone going to the All-Star festivities? I'll be going to everything although tickets in my section for Tuesday night are going for $600-1000, tempting to sell them. Gonna be hot as balls.

I'll probably just be watching on tv, unless tickets fall in my lap. And you know what...i'm going to watch every minute I can and enjoy the crap out of it.
