Even though I have lived in Kansas my whole life I don't think I could ever be a Royals fan. Seems like the worst thing in the world.

It's really not much worse than being a KState fan

Much worse. Imagine Wooly coaching K-State hoops for almost thirty years or K-State football sans LHC Bill Snyder. That's pretty much Royals baseball since the 80's.

Royals are the only team I root for to win a championship since I've been alive and I've often wondered if I'll ever get to see a k-state championship in bball or fball before I die.  I know it's much harder for k-state to win a championship, but either way I'd put my money on the royals winning another before k-state so when that's the goal, I don't see it being worse.

True. But I was 10 and barely paying attention to sports of any kind.

I'm just saying for about the last 30 years the Royals have been terrible. Probably one of the worst 3-5 franchises in baseball, and maybe in all of professional sports.

post-1985, the royals have the worst record in baseball. it's that bad. i've lost any hope in kstate fb, kstate hoops and the royals ever winning a championship in my lifetime. i think the chiefs might..but only because of the nature of the nfl.

Sanchez. But, of course, Sanchez will continue to start since DM couldn't possibly come to terms with the fact that the Melky trade didn't turn out in his favor. Just write him off as this year's Francis and hope he's gone sooner than later. If we're not bringing up Odorizzi (or hell, even if we are) why not give Doug Davis a shot? He's been solid in Omaha and couldn't possibly be worse than Sanchez.

Mair was a great guy to have around. He knew his role, never bitched or complained about playing time or being moved around. Just did his thing and cashed his check. Even if it has been in his best interest to move elsewhere. I'll miss him.

Pretty stunning that teams like the Twins and Jays are marching rookie pitchers out there who absolutely handcuff the Royals and we don't have a single rookie in the rotation....and it doesn't look like we will soon.

I thought Dayton had built a monster farm system?

Duffy and Lamb needing TJ took a big bite out of the pitching side of the prospect list. Add in Montgomery and Dwyer not meeting expectations the last couple years and the position portion of the farm system looks alot better. Odorizzi still looks like a top prospect and I think there's a chance we see him after the ASG. There's also still that chance someone like Montgomery or Verdego could turn into a decent MLB pitcher. Diamond, one of those rookies for the Twins, had something like a 5.50 ERA in AAA last year and opponents hit over .300 against him. Not saying it's going to happen for the Royals and probably won't, but there's been stranger things happen in baseball.

When you go to Royals games these days, you learn all you pretty much need to know about the organization.   I go to at least 1 a year when I am back during their season.

The one I was at last summer featured a steady stream of between inning features regarding an All-Star game that was still nearly a year away, and then a copious supply of old videos from the glory years.   Sprinkled in there was a few features about current no-name players, that everyone knows won't be with the Royals very long if they break-out into something special.

Just a sad, pathetic, going thru-the-motions organization.

I would have told anyone they were out of their effing mind had they told me when I first started following the Royals that they would become a 3rd rate, never win anything MLB franchise rivaling the biggest laughing stock organizations in the game.

The Chiefs are nipping on their heels, but at least the Chiefs can say they've been to the postseason in recent memory . . . but huge strikes against the Chiefs for their post season ineptitude considering that the NFL does a far better job of trying to keep all boats rising on the same tide than MLB does.

MLB also only allowed 4 teams in its postseason during a large portion of the Royals postseason drought, and they still only allow 8 to the NFL's 12. The Chiefs are just as bad, really.

The Chiefs have a winning season every few years, that is 100 times more than the Royals can say.
