Kansas City is probably the smallest market in baseball. There are numerous ways to judge such things -- population in the city, population in the metro area, population going out 100 miles, television market size, radio reach -- and in all of those, Kansas City and Milwaukee scrape bottom. If Major League Baseball was starting a 30-team league right now, Kansas City almost certainly would not get a team. The Royals are here for the effort and obsessive believe of a few people who loved this town -- mainly owner Ewing Kauffman and sportswriters Ernie Mehl and Joe McGuff -- and stayed here because people cared, and have kept caring. It isn’t easy. There are some inside Kansas City who think the city would be better off without the Royals, and many, many more outside the city limits who think baseball would be better off without Kansas City.

But enough people still love the Royals, and every summer the Royals play, and people keep hoping for the best.

Anybody who thinks Glass has ever lost money on this team is a dumb eff.

The arrogance of the Glass family and the way they treat the fans with nothing but disdain is hilarious.  They are a righteous batch of cocksuckers.  I've gone to my last game for the year after the AS game.

The worst part is that there is really nothing we can do about it other than not go to games, buy merch., etc.  It isn't like KSU where people can complain to the AD or Pres, pull donations (especially bigwigs).  If the owner doesn't care about winning then basically everyone is screwed.

Exactly.  A bad owner is a curse and it destroys franchises.

Anyone watch the Futures game today? Wil Myers was 2 for 4 with 3 RBIs & 1 run scored, & he also did this to the camera behind home plate:

does anybody even realize how good looking he is? like, anybody? i mean wow. take that line and add an extra hit and run scored just for what he looks like on a tv.

good job Royals.  way to renovate your stadium turning it into a steaming pile of crap and earning an ASG cementing the Royals ownership and management for another 15 years.

Yesterday was basically a live ad for why Myers needs to stay right here in KC the rest of the season. Sure it wasn't against ML pitching, but he basically did everything Frenchy doesn't. Plus did anyone else hear the mic'd up segment of him in bp? "So, do you have a girlfriend?" Just adorable.

I think Eric Stonestreet (of Modern Family) was one of the guys I really liked hanging out with. He’s all about Kansas City. He’s from Kansas City and he’s a huge Chiefs fan and he loves Kansas State too, so he was giving Bill Self a hard time all night. It was just hilarious listening to him all night because he was so quick-witted and funny. We had a great time hanging out all day. It was just a blast.
