you're a nice guy but I want you to know that soccer is lame.

unneeded comment. i'm a huge royals fan, I don't come in here to cause trouble, just talk about my baseball team that I love with some gE bros.

Welp! CF3 has convinced me!

Put 2/3rds of your pitching budget toward two studs and then have them pitch on three or four days rest and have them go 4-5 innings and have a rotating bullpen cover the rest of the innings and days.  You would just need so many arms to do it and you would need to constantly replenish your farm system because other teams would snatch up guys in the rule 5 draft that you showed can pitch.

wow.  i like this.  the royals should do this immediately.

The Royals are going to hang right around .500 all season aren't they. Just good enough they'll keep Shields but not good enough to justify going and getting anyone good at the deadline

Someone in the next 10 years will do something outside the box like this with pitching staff construction. It won't be the Royals.

Would be a terrible idea.   Unless they honestly think they can resign Shields.   But, I have hope they'll be in serious contention and this scenario won't play out.

When one person, for whatever reason, has a chance to lead an exceptional life, he has no right to keep it to himself.

Not quite the same, but the Rockies and now the Astros have tried some outside the box pitching rotations.

how can they be so bad at foundational things

They value the wrong things as foundational, things like stolen bases and hitting to the opposite field. I guess they do value strikeouts out of the bullpen as important, so there's that.
