Only chance this team has is to shelve Guthrie and put Duffy in the rotation.

See, I was thinking this, but I want them to shelve chen instead. I don't think his tricks are going to work this season.

I think they should consider trading Ventura, Salvy and Mondesi for Verlander/Smyly and really make a run

any statement started with "only chance this team has" has to involve the offense improving, IMHO.

welcome back btw

Chen's good against non-central teams like the Red Sox, because they get up there and are like "holy eff, this guy actually cant throw harder than 80" and cant get their timing right.  When he pitches against central teams, they are like "lol, the guy who throws meatballs? Cool. See you at home plate after I smack this to left".

yordano is quite possibly the most beautiful human being these eyes have ever seen

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

true story- why do they boo when the pitcher throws to first base??

Cause crap is annoying.   Once or twice per at bat, fine.  More than that, stop being a bitch and throw the ball.

stealing is by far the funnest part of baseball.  i'd call the entire rest of the game stalling and the stealing part is really the game.  they should just have runners start on first and play from there (no hitting, but i guess the pitcher still has to throw home so the runners have a chance to steal).

it's kinda crazy how all these shitty starters are badass relievers.  i'd like to see some team (prolly have to be a shitty team with nothing to lose) abandon the 5 starters and bullpen model and try something like a 3 pitchers/3 innings each every third day model or something like that.  bring in a bunch of cheap shitty starters and see if they can all pitch like badasses for 3 innings.

why can't dyson play 2nd?  maybe he doesn't have a strong enough arm for ss, but it seems like any decent athlete should be able to play 2nd.

everytime i see maxwell i think of how much more useful bonifacio would be.  i'm starting to hate him.

it's a skill set thing. his skill set is best used running down fly balls and not in the middle infield. also, some people just aren't good at fielding. those people end up in the outfield. so i would read that he isn't a good fielder.

yeah, as an ideal.  i mean in the sense of how the royals didn't have a replacement infielder when infante was out.  also it could be useful sometimes.  like say you want to pr for someone so you need a place to stick dyson after.  more options since you could rotate the infielders around and stick dyson at 2nd.  so basically you could then replace anyone but the catcher.
