Kentucky is not the 4 that I wanted to be matched up with. That arena is going to be lit and Georgia Amoore is the single best player we'll see, to that point, if we beat Fairfield, who has been tested against and beat high major teams already.

We have three common opponents with UK this year - they beat Arizona State at home 77-61, beat Belmont at home 84-78 and lost at Texas A&M 61-55. We beat Belmont at home 82-56, beat ASU 81-69 (Lee got hurt in that game) and beat A&M on the road 89-50.

I've only watched them a little this year, but they're pretty well rounded and have a 6-foot-5 post player who's their No. 2 scorer behind Amoore. They don't shoot the ball well from 3 (32%) and it only accounts for about 1/3 of their shot attempts, but they're pretty efficient inside the 3 line. They don't force a ton of TOs (13 per game), but they are holding opponents to 35% from the field and 26% from 3.

I've been in that arena and MIR is correct - if we play UK, it will be a sell out and it will be very, very loud (they're top 15 nationally in attendance). I think it's all going to hinge on how effective Lee is - without that, I don't think we can win.

But... that assumes we get to UK. Fairfield beat Arkansas (worst team in the SEC), but, more importantly, they only lost by two to Okie State in Stillwater (64-62) in an early season game. They've made the tourney thee of the last four years, so I doubt they'll be intimidated in any way. They share the ball really well (18 assists per game) and they also force TOs (18 per game). They're holding teams to 38% from the floor and 27% from 3. They don't have anyone who can match up with Lee (tallest player is 6-foot-1). Mittie will need to have the team ready or this definitely could be a loss.

Great breakdown. Amoore's ability to get in the lane really scares me. I doubt that her and Sundell will be matched up together very much, but Amoore is in every single first round draft mock and Serena is in none of them, quite the time for her to make her mark.

For those who can't see that tweet, Missouri is allegedly going to hire Kellie Harper at some point this week. It's not being reported by anyone and only tweeted by Skim Mulky.

I appreciate the information you and MIR provide on the women's sports (and men's).  Good stuff!
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

So I suppose this means Mittie is staying. Is his name being mentioned on any other lists?

My completely uneducated guess is that he'll be at KSU until he retires, the program takes a downturn or there's a major shakeup in the athletic department/university. I think Mizzou was a one-off - the whole "going home" type of thing.

He's 58 and probably has 5-10 years left, so unless he goes on an amazing run in the next few years, it's hard to see a top tier program making a run at him. Plus, by the end of his current contract, he'll be making $1 million per year - that probably puts him safely in the top 25 in the country, so there's really not a whole lot of room to go up, anyway. Dawn Staley makes $4 million a year, Geno's at $3 million and there are a few others in that neighborhood, but it goes downhill fast after that to around the range where Mittie is.

lady cats adjacent- kennedy taylor’s brother won his second state championship in a row last weekend.  he’s a 6’10 230 back to the basket center.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Saw a few highlights from their games. Looked like a D2 team taking on other KS high school teams. What year is he?

i’ve seen him play twice in person.  he’s just so much bigger than everyone else that it’s hard to say how well he will be in 3 years because shawnee mission east just doesn’t have anyone to compare to him on the court.  pretty coordinated for his age and size though, good hands too.

It is amazing how big of a leap it is to go from dominating at the KS HS level to even being a contributor at the D1 level.

I just watched this kid here in Iowa at Valley High School, the largest high school in the state. He's a 6'10" junior, probably 260-270, really big, well built, kid. He's banging down low one possession and hitting 3s off of pick and pop the next. He was 17/44 on the year from the 3 point line on the year. He was the Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year. I thought he certainly would have high major offers to at least every school in the region. Dude only has 5 division 1 offers and he committed to Northern Iowa, his clear best offer.

I wonder how much of that changed with the portal.  Certainly, there's a lot less interest in High School players. I've seen HS coaches mention only the elite of the elite get P5 offers anymore.

I'm getting OT but I was interested to hear them talk about how Drake had built their roster using D2 transfers.

Also, go KSU Ladycats. Hope they can make a run to the second weekend. Great group of players that I have really enjoyed following over the past 2 seasons.

UK is probably going to win, but having a bad stretch at the end of this game and making some pretty poor decisions

Getting nothing offensively from anyone other than Lee/Sundell/Glenn.

Sides is having a rough game on both ends of the floor.

We're settling into a lull and if these cats starting making 3s, it's going to get close quickly

Hit 8 of our first 9 shots in the first 4 minutes of the game and then went 7-for-26 (26%) the rest of the first half.

Can probably get away with that today (unless Fairfield catches fire), but have to shoot better tomorrow to have a chance.

85-41 final. Lee with 17pts and 10 boards. Really hope they can make it to next weekend. This team deserves it.
