Why did they play on Monday morning?

Looks like they are doing 24 hours of basketball to kick off the season similar to what the men have done in previous years.

Lee "popped something" in her ankle and didn't play the second half per the Merc reporter. Mittie said it wasn't serious/was precautionary. Taylor stepped in and had a double double.

He also said B. Glenn is going to redshirt this year, which does make sense because there's a glut at those combo guard/forward spots.

I didn't watch, but based on the exhibition and this box score, Poindexter is going to be the difference between us finally making it to (at least) the second weekend for the first time in 20+ years.

Also, should add that Green Bay is a very good program. They won 27 games last year and have played in the postseason 25 out of the last 30 years (18 NCAA appearances, including a Sweet 16 in 2011).

Very promising start to the season.

she looks like the perfect addition to this team. Very smooth with the ball going to the basket and can shoot from 3 as well.

I don't have any inside into but I think Brylee will change her mind about a redshirt. This is barring she doesn't have an issue that the program is keeping quiet. I don't understand her playing in the exhibition if she knows she's going to redshirt. If she does complete the redshirt, she's played her last game here.

this team might just be good enough to overcome jeff mittie’s questionable coaching

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Poindexter is bringing what we wanted/needed from Gregory last year, but it just didn't happen.

She's fantastic. Great defensively as well.

Also, Kennedy Taylor (transfer from MO State) is adding some much-needed depth and additional scoring down low. She had 18 tonight with Lee sitting out as a precaution.

Should be pointed out that Belmont is a solid mid-major program. So this is 2 games to start the season that were teams we should beat, but beating as bad as we did is making a statement, especially with Lee barely touching the floor yet.

isn’t the girl from the spanish national team going to get minutes next season at the 1?

Would assume so, which will be interesting because this coaching staff clearly values height/length at every position.

But, it's quite possible the idea is that she backs up Sides for 2 years and then it's her turrn.

I don't see Sides playing point, ever. Zy Walker is the backup point guard and she'll likely get more minutes this year. Alexis Hess may get some PG minutes too.

We'll see and I do think there are some limitations there, but she obviously did last year. She's an awfully short off-guard - especially for this coaching staff...

Mittie was on The Game for media day on Tuesday and he indicated that he wanted to get Sides minutes at the point in practice because he wants in get Serena off the ball more, but Taryn has been hurt the entire preseason. She started no contact drills this week.
MiR, do you see Taryn being a player who can consistently handle the point at the Big XII level?

I don't. I am bearish on her being a contributor for a top 25 program in a power conference. She doesn't appear to have size, strength, or athleticism. Reading the tea leaves, it seems as is Mittie doesn't agree with my assessment. I hope like hell that I'm wrong.

You're definitely wrong.

lol, she's played 20 minutes against Green Bay, I didn't say she wasn't good enough for the Horizon. West Virginia has forced 77 turnovers in 2 games. Happy with what we've seen, it's isn't remotely close to indicative of how conference play will go.

Injuries are the only thing that'll stop this team from a second weekend run (that includes Mittie)

Just another 28 points in 16 minutes for Ayoka Lee. Six Cats total with at least 8 points and we held their leading scorer averaging 28 points a game to just 9 last night.

I liked the contributions from our transfers.  Poindexter looks as good as I hoped and Taylor seems like she can defend the paint in Lee's absence.  Maupin is good but is too light to defend some of the posts we face, particularly Crooks.

Taylor has been pretty good, I worry about her when she has to face actual big centers though. Maupin has been very disappointing to me, she hasn't seemed to develop, at all. I have really been impressed with Sanchez this season, it isn't reflected in her numbers yet, but it looks like the game is really starting to slow down for her and she looks a lot more confident. Taryn was really good last night, I still have my same reservations about her. Those Creighton guards aren't either big or athletic, frankly they are a lot like her and I think she would thrive in their system. I'll continue to hope that I'll be proven wrong, but we're not there yet. Mittie very clearly is giving her point minutes from both Serena and Zy.

Some dude on KSO was unironically freaking out last night about how she "always fades away" on shots. The internet is great insight about how many mental people are truly out there.
