No clue if she'll be good, but overall seems like Mittie is doing quite well recruiting lately

NSIAP. Should be another fun season. 23-24 Ladycats were one of the most likeable and enjoyable Cat teams to follow.

We also just got a commitment from the PG for the Spain U17 national team (also occasionally played with THE Spain national team). Spain's a top 5 country in WBB, so another strong recruiting effort from Mittie and crew.

This HAS to be the year for this coaching staff. If they can't get it done with this group...

imo the second half of the season was incredibly hard and frustrating to watch as any that I can remember. they underachieved more often than not.  i understand that they had some injuries but they suffered from poor coaching and just straight up stupid decisions on the court by the players.

watching a team underachieve is really hard for me

i said the same thing about last year’s team and then watched them get stepped on by texas in the b12 and then lose a home ncaa tournament game by double digits to colorado while only scoring 50 points.

I'm sure I said the same thing last year, but now I REALLY mean it.

In all seriousness - this team is even more talented than last year's and, presumably, will have a healthier Yoki.

I don't know how Mittie and the coaching staff will manage the rotation, but it legitimately could go 11 deep: Lee, Sundell, J. Glenn, B. Glenn, Walker, Poindexter, Sides, Maupin, Taylor, Sanchez, Lester. I don't know how you keep 11 players happy as it relates to playing time - good luck to the coaches on that one.

Elite Ladycat hoops fans, what do you see as the ceiling for Maupin and Sides in their Cat hoops careers?

They just couldn't shoot for crap. That seems to be alleviated, Mittie has been very high on Pondexter and Sides's growth, we'll see, I guess.

it wasn’t just poor shooting, the turnovers were painful to see.  their offense just stopped working before they ever got a shot off late in games and the team was just lost.

I have Sundell's inability to dribble the ball up against CU seared into my memory.  I'm not sure that we've got a solution for that.

Ditto, but the solution is playing Sides & Sundell together more often and letting Sundell play off ball more

which would also allow sundell to pursue her lifelong dream of becoming kobe bryant

isn’t the girl from the spanish national team going to get minutes next season at the 1?

Would assume so, which will be interesting because this coaching staff clearly values height/length at every position.

But, it's quite possible the idea is that she backs up Sides for 2 years and then it's her turrn.

I don't see Sides playing point, ever. Zy Walker is the backup point guard and she'll likely get more minutes this year. Alexis Hess may get some PG minutes too.

I'm excited for Walker to develop. She showed some clutch playmaking last year at times.

We'll see and I do think there are some limitations there, but she obviously did last year. She's an awfully short off-guard - especially for this coaching staff...

Mittie was on The Game for media day on Tuesday and he indicated that he wanted to get Sides minutes at the point in practice because he wants in get Serena off the ball more, but Taryn has been hurt the entire preseason. She started no contact drills this week.

MiR, do you see Taryn being a player who can consistently handle the point at the Big XII level?

I don't. I am bearish on her being a contributor for a top 25 program in a power conference. She doesn't appear to have size, strength, or athleticism. Reading the tea leaves, it seems as is Mittie doesn't agree with my assessment. I hope like hell that I'm wrong.

the knock is her size.  she’s a one dimensional player and nothing short (pun) of another growth spurt is going to change that.  defensively her size creates problems for us as well.

i think mittie is trying to satiate serena’s desire to play off the ball

For a top 25 team, we were pretty bad at floor spacing last year because we couldn't shoot from the outside.

In theory, we'll be better this year (perhaps for no other reason than our highest volume shooter - Gregory by far - and her 29% make rate is gone). But, maybe there's a 10ish mpg role for Sides as backup PG/spot shooter since we have plenty of players who can create with the drive.

Hard to argue with any of that.
