While in Germany I fell in love with butterkase, aka Butter Cheese for those that don't sprechen. Smooth, creamy, mellow, and rough ridin' delicious. Boar's Head makes an ok variant.

Will be tasting in two weeks.

Hardest part for me is getting a good curd, store bought milk is just crap.  That said, I do manage and want to try some soft cheeses in the future.

Love the fact Murray's has teamed up with Dillons in Manhattan and Andover.

i'm pretty impressed with your homemade cheese, mr. slackcat.  some day i'd like to acquire the skill of making those.

When I was on vaca a few months ago they sold those giant cheese blocks in the airport. Like who is going to buy a 20 pound block of cheese at the airport and carry that on with them

You guys like melty queso or gooey Mac and cheese that doesn’t taste like velveeta or kraft? Get you some of this:

thanks  Seems cheese making is becoming the new "home brew" hobby and lots of info and supplies on the interweb.

Tonight I quartered it and spread it on toasted bagette with honey, delish.  Good flavor with creamy texture, not bad for my first cheese.  Started a brie a few days ago, have to wait 4 weeks.

These caught my minds eye at the store today. The only cheese curd reference Saul search came up with was a Jeffy post in a less popular thread. Will buy again.

They did not unfortunately.  I was a little hesitant at first but they are actually really good.  A lot cheaper than I thought they would be too.
