So J-Dub:  Care to take bets on the fortunes of the Chiefs (if Manning is acquired) vs. the Redskins over the next 3 years?     :kstategrad:

I'd love to take bets on the next 12 years. Because that's what this is really about. I believe in drafting a kid, grooming and building around him. The quarterback is the cornerstone. The absolute, must have, can't live without. It gives you a big window. The Chiefs always choose the small window. They always build a defense, or a killer running game, or a dominant o-line, and then they try to fit in an aging vet at QB. After a couple of years, the process repeats itself. The Chiefs can't sustain a winning tradition. They are constantly in flux. Because they have literally never had a cornerstone, save for Lenny. They had the good sense to sign Lenny when he was 27 - still young enough to build a franchise around. Lenny was, by the way, the 5th overall pick in the 1957 draft.

"I started calling him John during the game, cause he was rocking it like No. 7 -- like Elway," Harper said."

So no is the answer to my question.

And you really have to let go of the way the Chiefs did things under Peterson dude, its irrelevant.  Manning is a unique situation.  This is not Dave Kreig or Steve Deberg.

FYI Grbac was 27 when we acquired him, he had all the tools, was just a Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!), we took a shot and it failed, you should prolly give Chiefs credit for trying that one.

Wait, did someone just try to say Peyton wasn't good because his winning percentage went down in the playoffs from the regular season?  Just curious, because that would be Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!)

I also had a good lol after reading that one.  Surprised nobody called him out on it earlier.

Facebook says that Manning isn't even agreeing to meet with KC.

didn't say he wasn't good guys. he's the greatest regular season QB in history. but in the playoffs his post-season numbers, and more importantly, winning percentage drops significantly. among the elite QB's in history, only Marino has underachieved as much Peyton in the playoffs. when teams are counting on him to get them to the super bowl, which all these prospective teams are, it's noteworthy that he has a losing record in the postseason..

Who do you consider to be the "elite QB's"? There are many elite QB's that I can think of other than Marino that have never won a Super Bowl, making everything else you have said regarding the postseason completely irrelevant. The odds of Andrew Luck or RG3 ever being as good as Manning would be next year at any point in their careers are well below 50%.

In the playoffs you play good teams.  Your winning percentage goes down.  Also, when you've gotten a bye almost every season, you don't even get to play the worst playoff teams.  He's won 9 playoff games since the Chief's last playoff win, and he was 0-3 in his first 3 trips to the playoffs, 9-7 since.  Maybe you want to hold out to see if the Pats cut Brady though?  Or would you rather make a play for Flacco?

Reg Season to Postseason

+/- in Win %

Starr +282
Aikman +163
Warner +119
Unitas +105
Bradshaw +60
Elway +24
Tarkenton +15
Dawson +9
Montana -17
Brees -45
Brady -53
Stabler -78
Favre -82
Young -86
Staubach -92
Kelly -102
Marino -169
P. Manning -204

3 young guys who will be ranked alongside them in a few years:

E. Manning +147
Roethlisberger +6
Rodgers +5

This is simple, crude and full of misconceptions I'm sure. But only Marino and Peyton are in no man's land on the losing side of it. There are some outliers. Starr obviously.. Brady's regular season Win % is so phenomenal that even winning over 700% of his playoff games is a dropoff. Staubach and Montana also suffer small dropoffs due to incredible reg season numbers. I personally hesitate to include Warner and Aikman in this group but both are Super Bowl champions with excellent post-season performances so they are in. Tarkenton, Eli, Warner and Aikman are the only QB's with sub-600 win % in the regular season. It helps inflate Eli, Warner and Aikman's postseason increase. And at the bottom by a wide margin you find Marino and Manning. I'm not hating on Marino for never winning a SB. He was one of the 4 greatest QB's of all-time. But he and Peyton have for whatever reason really struggled in postseason play.

Peyton is 3-4 in Wildcard Games, 3-4 in Divisional games, 2-1 in AFC Champ games, 1-1 in SB.

As a Chiefs fan this really is about meltdown worthy.

I'm obviously biased, but as far as talent on the field the Chiefs have so much more to offer in terms of getting Manning back to a Super Bowl. Most analysts seem to concur. John Fox probably out-classes Crennel, but to not even get a visit from Manning when we can obviously pay him AND put a more competitive product on the field than the likes of the Broncos, Cardinals, Dolphins is a huge slap in the face.

Is it the gestapo-like atmosphere that have been reported by some of the ex-chiefs employees? What else could it be other than Pioli is a huge bad person?

oh look. the dumbassery transported itself to goEMAW  :ksu:

regular season peyton: 678 win %

    playoff peyton: 474 win %

     :flush:

kc as a franchise needs to grow a pair and draft a kid and build around him. either give up a couple 1sts and take RG3. or stockpile picks and fix the lines, and have some ammo to move up and take barkley or whoever next year. 2 years of a broke-ass peyton is more of the same. i mean.. i don't even..

Colt's Reg season record with PM:

1998: 3-13
1999: 13-3
2000: 10-6
2001: 6-10
2002: 10-6
2003: 12-4
2004: 12-4
2005: 14-2
2006: 12-4
2007: 13-3
2008: 12-4
2009: 14-2
2010: 10-6

Post season record: 9-10. That's 19 games since he became the starter. Would take in a heartbeat. A HEARTBEAT.

I'm officially designating Hillis as the player to receive this years' inevitable cheap shot from either the Raiders or Broncos, probably be the first time I ever cheer for a Oakland/Denver cheap shot.
