QB and WR have been glaringly bad going on 35 odd years now. That's the cardinal sin that keeps KC in perpetual "not good enough" state. I think.
2 years of a past his prime Montana. A flash from Andre Rison. A glance here and there of Rich Gannon and Joe Horn. A couple years of Trent Green, but was offset by the league's worst D. At the moment, Bowe is an ascending star if he continues to avoid being stupid. (One could argue for Kenney I suppose. Krieg was okay with Seattle..)
Outside of those guys, I struggle to think of anyone who was ever clearly above average at QB or WR for an extended period of time in their career.
And every single one of those guys, aside from Bowe obviously, played their best ball elsewhere.
Trotting out Robb Thomas, Stephon Paige, Willie Davis, J.J. Birden, Lake Dawson, Derrick Alexander, Marc Boerigter, Johnny Morton, Eddie Kennison and Chris Chambers for two decades will not win you any significant hardware.
Especially, when you have Deberg, Bono, Grbac, Huard, Thigpen and Cassel throwing it to them.
I hope something is done about Cassel, and quickly, or it will be the same sad story once again.
