I'm sorry you all have to suffer through this. So glad I never got on the Chiefs wagon when I lived in Kansas. Yuck.

Calling Marcus Peters the best player is laughable.

Are there any advanced stats/analytics that we can look at to really see where he fits league wise? I feel like he was really really bad in coverage most of the time, as well as run support (seemed to be more determined after his suspension though, which raises questions as to why he wasn't at that level before, but I don't care).

It just seemed like his insane knack to break off his coverage assignment for ints, getting interceptions, and simply how effective he was at creating turnovers in general made him look so damn good that people forget the other stuff.

Could be scheme, could be Peters being bad, could be in my head because I'm trying to convince myself he wasn't that good in coverage/run support. Just wondering if there are numbers to look at either way, thanks.

This is scout based, if anyone subscribes to Pro Football Focus, they could chime in:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2754252-nfl1000-ranking-the-top-outside-cornerbacks-of-2017-season

Quote
5. Marcus Peters, Kansas City Chiefs

Coverage: 21/25
Reaction: 24/25
Recovery: 21/25
Tackling: 9/15
Position Value: 10/10
Overall Grade: 85/100

The most dangerous cornerback in the NFL resides in Kansas City. Third-year corner Marcus Peters continued on his Hall of Fame trajectory with another five interceptions, nine pass breakups and three forced fumbles. He's massively reduced the big plays he allowed in his rookie season and is seeing less targets, yet his production remains high considering the chances he's getting. The lone weakness on his resume remains his tackling effort, which is often more of a strip attempt than staying genuine in his form.

—NFL1000 DB Scout, Ian Wharton

Peters is one of the most exhilarating and frustrating boom-and-bust players in the NFL. When he's on point, he's obviously an interception machine, with the ability to see the entire field and the athleticism to jump routes that aren't even his to cover. There are also times when he'll break technique and allow big plays. The Chiefs have made a bargain with the upside of Peters' talent, knowing that the downside is also inevitable. If Peters can stay assignment-correct on every play, he has the potential to be the best pass defender of his generation.

—NFL1000 Lead Scout Doug Farrar

LOL at thinking any NFL fanbase has anything other than an enormous amount of low FB IQ'ers.

That's like saying the fanbase of one NASCAR driver has a lower IQ than the fanbase of others.

fair enough but it's trades like this that really bring out the dumbest.

Thinking that the Chiefs HAD to trade peters for such a awful return is so stupid it makes me cringe.

Can't argue that. I absolutely hate the trade and the return, and it's hard to imagine in any way that the Chiefs D can be better without Peters.

I'll let the offseason/draft play out and wait until the actual season to be too mad about it all. Hell, the Patriots traded their best defensive player last year for a 3rd round pick, it was just brushed off as "the Patriot way", and they got better.

So, I'm just glad we have a similar system with Sutton. The Sutton way.

Better or worse than what Baltimore got for Ray Rice?

You know who's really lowIQ? The people who don't think the Pats could have gotten more for Aaron Hernandez.

Analyzing players in a vacuum is the lowest of the lowIQ

What's old Collin Kapernick up to these days? Surely the 49ers got great value based upon his numbers.

I've been on the edge of my seat since the post about the grumblings that @The Big Train knows about, but won't say, until it actually comes out as to why the Chiefs let him go....
