You dumbasses realize SF was a shitty team before 2011 right? They had one of the worst defenses in the league up through 2010

Yeah, they were shitty. Just look at who they were trotting out at QB!

They gave up 24+ points in 6 of 8 losses in '09 and 25+ in 7 of 10 losses in '10. Look what they did w/ Smith they have had a decent defense.

KC needs to tighten up the D in the draft and with FA's and they'll compete for the division. Charles and play action all year long

We need to do more than just "tighten up" we were letting teams put basketball scores up on us last yr.

The Ravens scored 9.  THE SUPER BOWL CHAMPS.

The Chiefs didn't have a great defense, but more often than not they were good.  Add a few key pieces in FA or the draft and they could be great.

The inept offense really hurt the defense last season. It's easy to score with short fields all game

With Jamaal Charles, the Chiefs don't need an all-star QB. They just need someone to not screw up bad enough to ruin what Charles has got going.

Also, found this funny: @AdamSchefter: Look for Matt Cassel to be one of the quarterbacks on the Cardinals' radar.

Yep plus the multiple 3 and outs were back breakers.

Uhhh that's because the offense had like six turnovers a game. The defense was on the field the whole damn game.

Not excited about a smith, but not many choices this season really.   I wonder if manning would have at least visited us if we had reid last year.

My point wasn't that specific stat.  It was that Cassel had a fantastic year that year yet here we are sitting with the worst qb in the league.  Also, strike off the one outlier and look at smith's completion %.  Yep, matt cassel only with fewer attempts most yrs.

Outliers are usually nothing more than outliers.

Dude had a QB rating of 104.1 last year as well. Of course, he did have 5 pro bowlers on his o-line.

Couldn't the Chiefs just picked him up in March? He was about to get released.

Also, eliminate the one outlier and he is similar to Cassel in rating over his career as well.

One outlier being 2011 and 2012? Cause he was pretty good in both years.

They must have been worried that the 49ers would trade him to somebody else.

Alex Smith's career record when the opponent scores at least 24 points: 2-27-1

I don't think the 49ers would have released him.  They were talking about keeping him in case Kap went down.  However since the draft is weak for QB's, they can get something good for him.

I bet the 49ers end up using KC's 2nd round draft pick to get a better QB than Smith and then the mid-rounder next year is just icing on the cake for them.
