Spurs had a nice run, in the end they just aren't deep enough and could still use a world class CB and someone to partner Modric. They need to focus on the league now or they might not make 4th.

United/Chelsea and Barca/Shaktar today. I'm thinking 2-2 between United/Chelsea. Barca probably takes care of business tonight, but Shaktar won't be a push over.

agree with all of this

we need a striker more than anything, and hopefully we sack up this year and buy connor wickham from ipswich town to be our next up-and-comer

ledley is obviously winding down on his career, and while gallas is still in top form, we could really use a RB to solidify our line

love michael dawson when he's fit, but that's about all i can say in the back.  assou-ekotto can be decent most of the time, but it's really frustrating when he goes into full-blown Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) mode.  corluka looks like he's wearing snowshoes half the time, and then the rest of them are in their sunset years and/or are made of glass.

changing topics, anyone else love barca's away kit? i normally don't give two shits about sporting attire, but something about it i love.

United being all awesome and crap. Poor ol Chelski. Big game vs the Citizens in the FA cup, but no Rooney and no Tevez

are they suspended?  both clubs have enough fire power in their reserves to make it watchable ... easily

Rooney is suspended cause he yelled "WHAT? rough ridin' WHAT?" into a camera after he completed his hat trick vs. West Ham.

Tevez tore his hamstring on Monday, out for at least 2 weeks, might be done for the season

Schalke was lucky not to lose 10-0.

How crap were Inter that Schalke beat them 5-2?

inter has had plenty of problems this year, but i thought they were past them

of course, maicon hasnt had a good season, they have had identity issues in their midfield

its crazy, united utterly dominated schalke in every facet of the game, and neuer saved them from a 5-6 goal deficit

Neuer is amazing. United could use him as Van der sar is retiring, but he seems hellbent on wanting to play for Bayern Munich, even though their fans hate him for some weird reason.

neuer is going to bayern on a 4 year deal

i would imagine that united would buy de gea from atletico madrid this summer. only 20, and he could come in right away and be solid, although he is pretty inexperienced. he and neuer are going to be great no matter where they are playing though, imo.

anyone watching barca vs real madrid?
spent the last week at the gf's parents place, they live directly across the street from the Bernabéu.  the stadium is pretty great, ran into the espn football guys at the euro hotel a couple days ago and talked to them.

tickets for today's match were selling for $700 euros (~$1000) for shitty nosebleeds.

throughout the time i was there, there basically was always a bus or two, or 100 of asians coming in to tour the facility.  both rm and barca are so popular in china that they considered changing their weekend start times to around 3pm local so that they can be watched in asia.

some pics i took-

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

those pictures are awesome. i can't imagine being able to live across the street from something like that!

i watched the game when the replay was going on fsc. really tough game to watch because of the level of flopping. one of the more disgraceful displays i've seen outside of serie a.

messi is absolutely amazing though. he was able to take the game over in the last 25 and its pretty much over at this point.

i'm no soccer manager, but i would think that the special one needs to revamp his strategy when it comes to barca. it's almost like he is scared of them, because he refuses to attack, and just lets pepe patrol the middle and make sure that they dont get an attack going. also, why the hell would you bring ozil off at half when he is your second best attacking player?

alves godammit  :shakesfist:  maybe mourinho's new strategy should be to negotiate to have the game officiated by someone who isn't a complete fuckhead.

clams if you were trying to make us all completely jealous it worked.

if it makes any difference, i thought of you and how much i thought you would enjoy it, hence the post and the pics.
it was really cool watching the first barca/rm match the previous week with a bar full of spaniards.  when renaldo scored the header the entire city of madrid exploded in cheers.  everyone ran out of the bars and into the streets and partied until 5am.  i didn't know if they high fived or what so some i high fived and some  i shook hands, it was cool/weird.
