You really think it's embarrassing that Klein calls and texts him on a regular basis for reassurance? You guys would be terrible recruiters. 17-18 year olds are very fickle.
No. Everybody knows coaches are in constant contact with recruits.
It’s embarrassing that every time something potentially negative happens at Kansas state, our recruiting analyst at the fansites call the recruits and ask if they are decommitting and Fan forums blowup with fans worried about kids decommitting. Similarly, it’s embarrassing that every time we have a smidgen of success on the field, our fan forums blow up with fans wanting us to pay our coaches more or worried about somebody poaching our coaches.
I would be surprised if this were the exception rather than the rule.
That is what I was wondering. I only follow Kansas State so everything becomes much more exaggerated than other schools. This may happen everywhere. I also like that our fansites contact, attend games and promote the recruits as much as possible. I view our fansites as an extension of our coaches recruiting efforts. It just seems like contacting them with the sole purpose of asking them if they are decommitting and then publishing a headline that says said recruit is not decommitting seems insecure and sends a message to the recruit that we don’t think we’re a good enough program to keep them from decommitting when other schools offer or other kids decommit. Just my IMHO.
I do wonder, now that we have three legitimate fansites as well as the newspaper beat writers, do recruits ever get tired of being contacted requesting interviews and comments. I wouldn’t think so, but that is a lot of people asking for their time.
