Sandstone probably has good knowledge of this but my understanding is that hospitals still have considerable incentive to report patients as having covid regardless of what they are being treated for due to reimbursements.

The people we are seeing in the facility where I work are there BECAUSE OF COVID. I have no incentive to report them as having COVID. I don't know where people keep coming up with that - maybe the hospital has that incentive but I don't. These people are freaking sick. All the really sick ones are unvaxxed. Unlike last winter, there is no support from the tertiary hospitals so critical patients are staying in rural hospitals and we are doing the best we can for them here. Probably going to get worse before it gets better. Conference call with CMOs from KS tertiary hospitals yesterday (TL, DR: tons of workers out sick, capacity maxed out):

I appreciate that. I play a small role and I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me. Very proud of the team I'm part of. Kind of gets me when I see HCWs like nurses and RTs who have suffered severe health problems due to Covid or who are pregnant or over 65yo suiting up and going back to the bedside day after day to provide care. We will get through this eventually but I believe that a lot of the suffering has been avoidable. Just wish everyone who could get vaxxed would do so - don't really care what people do about masks, etc. It would prevent a lot of needless suffering. Again, not trying to change the public's mind about any of this. Just posting posting here b/c this is a pretty safe place for me to get stuff off of my chest.

Unfortunately people that haven’t got a vaccine already will never get one. For some reason they will take basically anything once they get it though.  Hopefully the Pfizer therapeutic gets released soon and can keep the unvaccinated from making it to the hospitals as frequently.

It's anecdotal but I know of an unvaxxed MAGA who dropped his wife off at the Covid icu and went straight to get his shot. (The wife died after 6 weeks on a vent).

People willing to take a Pfizer therapeutic but not a Pfizer vaccine is madness to me.

Yea and zero hesitation on monoclonal antibodies.  I just want people to stop dying and hospitals to be normal again, if it’s by some weird mental gymnastics that Pfizer pill = good and Pfizer vax = bad then so be it.

I think this happens a lot. Good buddy of mine got his ass kicked by covid, wife and kids were fine. He got vaxxed after he got better
