It definitely has something to do with vaccination rates, at least in Iowa anyway. We're up to 60% of all eligible citizens who are fully vaccinated, more importantly for the elderly fully vaccinated, it's like 90%.

yuck 60% being "good" but better than MO even KCMO counties. The best one in KC is like 58% with one dose.

Last I saw Iowa was hovering north of 70% with at least one dose.

It even has rates by state and county by age group, which is pretty cool.

We had a family member test positive for it that I was hanging with recently for holiday get togethers. I just had the flu two weeks ago and tested negative with a fever. Now I have the same symptoms again days later after hanging out with him and am running a fever again with similar symptoms. I still taste crap, so who really knows. Test sites are crazy booked right now.

Yeah, that’s what I usually do when I have symptoms. I was going to get boostered this week, but it got randomly canceled yesterday morning by the clinic. That was pretty bizarre, but whatever. It’s the holidays. crap happens.

I had a hell of a sinus thing going on yesterday and was able to find some take home tests at the Raytown Walgreens. Luckily my junk is just a cold.

Omicron seems to not gaf about infecting vax'd folks, but symptoms should be lesser.

Also I'm seeing a lot of people report NOT losing taste/smell with omicron, so don't bank on having taste as meaning you don't have covid

Not only should you just go about life as if everything's normal, I would suggest taking even more risks than usual. Go volunteer at a nursing home. Become a candy striper at a cancer ward. Really lean into it.

It definitely is better at getting to the vaxxed but data is showing it still helps you fight off infection especially if boosted. I think I saw like 70%? Anecdotally doesn't feel that way
