-Ramp up rapid test production and make sure every person in the country gets one a day. Mailed them to every residence in the US. Psaki mocked a reporter for suggesting this and she was wrong. (This is probably most important AND difficult)
she was idiotic to mock the suggestion, but i don't think it's a great way to distribute tests. very wasteful.
better would be for the federal govt to subsidize the price and make them available through normal retail outlets for a dollar or two. as well as make them available for free by request through the mail and at govt and/or health care outlets (like hospitals, schools, post offices, public libraries, city halls, etc)
but you're right that the more important part is ramping up production. my understanding is that they are in short supply even with basically no effort being made to distribute them, so even if we wanted to improve distribution, we don't have the tests available to do so.
