The current vaccinations are not as effective against the new variant and the studies from the new anti viral pill have shown poor efficacy.

there's no strong evidence one way or the other re. the efficacy of vaccines against omicron.

And treatment medicine has been a distant second in development to vaccines. Such a quick anti viral working at all seems to support his easy to drug comment but I don't know how long drugs take to make. Compared to treatments for AIDS seems super quick.
