IMO opinions will change when vaccine passports become more prevalent. California already has QR codes for vaccination proof that takes like 30 seconds to access and every day I see more and more businesses requiring vaccination for entry. It isn't that hard.

We are damn lucky that just about all the groups at high risk of serious COVID complications have had ample opportunity to get vaccinated. As it stands, though, I’m not sure why we’re talking about cases rather than hospitalizations.

If the vast majority are recovering from Delta, I don’t think it’s worth reimposing meaningful restrictions or worrying about “breakthrough” infections.

Yeah hospitalizations are how things go south. And I don't know if there's enough unvaccinated folks to get close to overrunning hospitals again, even if overall cases surge.

Are hospitals really being overrun anywhere?
DLew mentioned KU opening another Covid unit, but I think hospitals are way better prepared for flexing capacity like that than they were a year ago.

My sister is a nurse in KC. Says every hospital is full including Children's Mercy.

We just had a baby boy this week.  And when talking to the pediatrician, her concern isn't necessarily covid-19, it's RSV.  Apparently with the last year, it's shifted it's season into the summer.  And that's what a high number of Childrens Mercy patients have.

Yep. RSV is a real problem right now.

RSV sucks. Both ours had it. The worst part is every time they get sick until they are like 4 they will get a super barky cough that sounds scary as hell.
