my company is giant and we do a lot of employee wellbeing surveys like giant companies do. ours showed a dramatic uptick in employee satisfaction with us as a company and with their day to day jobs in 2020. a lot of work is being done right now to classify exactly what that is attributable to.

Remember when some of ProgFascist.7’s favorite mouthpiece/self-affirming publications ran headlines like, “you’ll have a better chance of dying from (insert anything besides Covid here) then you will from Coronavirus”.   

Then they doubled down with headlines like, “Do not let Trump make a power grab using Coronavirus as a cover”.

Truly would have thought that iPOTUS Biden’s Covid A team who brought us new and cutting edge mitigation methodologies:  Social distance, wear a mask, get vaccinated. Would recognize the overall  low chance of complications from the sorely needed single dose-refrigeration only J&J vaccine.

When the risk of me infecting my children is gone or close to gone.

To be clear, the risk might be gone already but I don't think there's enough data to confirm. I could be wrong though.

Well we know you can still get COVID after getting the vaccine, we know some variants are breaking thru easier than others, we know the rates of kids getting COVID is increasing, so I have no idea how one could assume the risk is gone.

One of my schools has 47 current active student cases. 127 new student cases on the district this week and over 600 students quarantined.

That article was explicit in saying that a reduced viral load doesn't necessarily mean less infections because there isn't enough info on infectious dose. Which, by the way, if we don't know how much infectious dose is just enough, how in the hell could anyone say with any confidence what a prolonged exposure is and what that even means?

So you don't believe the data coming out that your chance of getting it at all or don't think there is enough data yet? The studies have been pretty consistent.

I get wanting to protect your kids to the nth degree possible though.

I understand the position, but I guess my question would be, why would you ever not wear a mask then? It’s always going to lower the odds of you transmitting a potentially dangerous airborne virus to your kids, and there will be a greater than zero percent chance of that happening your entire life (or as long as you are in contact with them).

- Built in excuse to not perform/Reduction in work, social, or school pressure.
- Less in person bullying.
- government support programs kept people afloat financially
- Fewer new relationships formed that ultimately result in failed relationships
- Social anxiety reduced because there is no socializing in person

I've been pro masks for indoor mass gatherings and close contacts after the COVID pandemic is over. I think we should treat the seasonal flu the same way. It's deadly too, but the vaccine for it is comparatively shitty.
