I don’t know, but I gave plasma a lot in college (use to fear it) and the fear exists with adults too. I’d give these peeps a pass, SYS. Everyone has something crazy they fear in their life. At least the guy tried, right?

Wacky is right.  I don't understand how adults can be afraid of needles either but I have a severe phobia of heights.  Like even if there is a guard rail, I won't get close.  Full height windows in a skyscraper- yeah eff that.   My mind says "it's OK, go look"  but my body says "no rough ridin' way".  It's weird and I can't control it.  So I do understand phobias and how uncontrollable they can be.

oh, yeah, that's different.  totally rational to be afraid of heights.

Spiders (that are clearly not poisonous), public speaking, seizuring on the sight of blood, etc. People are just complex weird creatures.

Yeah, anxiety can do funny things to people and trigger weird physiological responses, and attempts to contain it often make it worse. Brains are weird.

I am not a fan of heights but only in weird circumstances. I can fly in a rickety ass 172 with a 16yo bro as a pilot who I know damn well basically sucks at flying and be cool. but I can go to a big ass bridge like the royal gorge and be really uncomfortable.

When it comes to heights, I'm pretty similar, I almost don't even count flying with "heights" and it just doesn't even feel like I can "fall down" even though obviously the plane can crash, and you're usually buckled in, and looking out a small window that would be very hard to fit through.

But bridges, skyscrapers, etc, anything with just a guard rail or floor to ceiling windows just makes me a nervous no go. It's something with the sheer drop, as like I've summited a few mountains in Colorado for example and that does not trip me out at all being on top of a mountain, but if I was near a sheer cliff, then it comes into play.

Off topic but on topic with the needles, I don't love em but it's also that I am definitely prone to fainting any time I've had a shot or blood drawn, and it's definitely more on the order of this:

https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/vasovagal-syncope/symptoms-causes/syc-20350527#:~:text=Vasovagal%20syncope%20(vay%2Dzoh%2D,blood%20pressure%20to%20drop%20suddenly.

It's hard to explain, I think it's a deep seeded worry about it, but like I don't let it get in the way of getting a shot, and it's not even instant, it more kicks in (like my first chip) about 2-3 minutes after I get the shot, and I just have to lie down until it passes. It was like when I got my shots to go to college, I got em, stood up and was like "cool thanks!" started to walk down the hallway, tunnel visioned and passed out and fell backwards and was thankfully caught by my dad. I didn't like freak out before or during the shot, it just, happens. It happens probably 50% of the time.

You second chippers going to go back to 100% regular life now?

My two weeks is the 14th. My schedule so far

14th - Le Fou Frog indoor dining (first time inside)
15h - Ponaks indoor
16th - flight to vegas
24th - big group indoor dining to celebrate birthdays
June - florida
July - vegas

So yes. I'm only limited by rules like limited seating and cost of flights going forward.

You know you can still get and more importantly spread COVID right?

Yes there is still a small chance of getting it. Data is showing it is a small chance based on symptomatic and asymptomatic testing of vaxxed people and cdc is even saying vaccinated people are free to travel. I'll still be masking up like a responsible person.

My first post-vax activity is pickup hoops with my old regular crew. It was being arranged for vaxxed people over the last week and it honestly motivated me to get a shot sooner.

Also we won't be going back to full regular life because of kids. I honestly don't miss indoor dining all that much plus schools out here still aren't fully in person

Well it's 14 days after the 2nd shot to be clear.  Why the question?

Lol I figured that was it. I have a refined palate for bad tex mex and strong margs. Both fit the bill.

When are you post-vaccine maskers going to feel comfortable unmasking and going back to life as usual?
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

About a year from now.  I think the end game is for the bug to just peter out.  If your city has zero cases for a month I think masks can get lost.

Yep. It’s not on the chip’d. How much longer life is weird depends on how long it takes for the unchip’d to do their part in killing this thing.

Yeah smart to let data and public health experts guide that rather than setting an arbitrary deadline. We'll also know a lot more about how much vaccinated folks transmit.

Of course I assume most people will be done with them regardless of what public health experts say because so many people already are done with them

today.  i'm still masking, of course, as mandated by society.  but i'd feel completely comfortable not doing so.
