I'm a bit suspicious of using that compilation of different data sets/collection methodologies as a tool for compared between the cities. Also just graphically, why error bars on some and not others?

Gottlieb shared the source of everything in another tweet (as an image)

I'm guessing they just didn't have the error ranges in the reports they cited.
Yeah, it's obvious that they would have to pull from different sets, I just wonder if there is consistency in the sampling or testing methodology such that the results are comparable. I don't think I care enough to dig up each source and find out though.

Sprinter vans are dookie

How so? Unless the roof leaks and it rains, it should serve this purpose.

About that. I had three of them in my previous work life, all had the AC unit on the roof, all three leaked.

You should just buy a 70's style conversion van.

I'm with you. As a person who is not really knowledgeable about statistics stuff, I don't trust the people who are re-purposing random content they find on the internet and creating charts, graphs, infographics, etc. But that's most of the stuff that gets shared on Twitter.

yeah, i just looked that study up.  it's seven weeks old, so not surprising they were fairly low then.  actually, that's higher than i would have guessed for early april.

Pretty sloppy by Gottlieb, I think New York's study was released in early May, too.

I think that study was 7.3% as of the end of April

The state’s Care19 app, which is one of the first contact-tracing apps to debut in the United States, is covertly transmitting location information to the search and discovery platform, Foursquare, and the phone’s unique Advertising ID to Google.

In addition, the anonymous code that the app assigns to individuals and is exchanged with phones it comes in contact with to notify them when they’re exposed to an infected person is sent to Foursquare and Bugfender, a Barcelona-based diagnostics software maker.

In this case, its not the API at fault - it doesn't do anything but provide the hit flag for a bluetooth proximity match to a positive individual with a similar tracing app enabled. Rather more its the app developer and just the sorry state of default data collection in app frameworks and the attitudes of contract developers/houses.  Its good there are eyes on these as they roll out, they'll get better.  But this particular developer shows why its probably a good thing most of the states are showing Not Participating/No Response at the moment.

North Dakota had a separate app. I don't think it has anything to do with the Google/Apple Bluetooth tracing

Thoughts on the CDC data for modelers?   I find this type of data to be useful for everyday people to make risk based decisions.

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html

Just looking at their best estimate scenario #5, here are my thoughts. CFR seems low but I hope they are right. 35% cases asymptomatic yet equally infectious to transmit disease is frightening but probably a smart number when trying to model an outbreak as by their own admission they don't have a good handle on this. Add in that 40% of transmission comes before a person is symptomatic.  Yuck, wear a mask people.

Yeah - neither Google or Apple are making an app, at least for use in the states.  They are only providing the API that exposes the bluetooth proximity hit and the randomized IDs at the handset system level.  The states will have to make/contract for their own user facing app that picks up that info and sends it externally for proximity matching and other data aggregation.

But no, Google or Apple are not making the app or (supposedly) dealing or working with this tracing data directly.

The later phase is to build it into the OS and not need an app at all.  Timeline was "coming months" for that phase.  That said, would like to see a national app like Swarm or FB jump on this vs state by state.
