There are a LOT of articles over-extrapolating data from a handful of case studies if you ask me.

Yea maybe, my guess is the biggest risk would be outdoor interaction, with or probably without masks being much higher risk than what people may glean from these articles.

I'm the opposite.  I think there is a lot of "that indoor space will kill you" because there is one paper from China where 21 people were within a 20 foot wide space in a poorly ventilated room.

That's a good point, I think that you're saying. We have an indication of what poor ventilation is, what is adequate, I'd assume it needs outdoor air exchange,  I'm not knowledgeable about HVAC enough but I'd assume most units don't do outdoor air exchanges? How much does spacing and mask wearing indoors reduce infectious load?

I think we all know what a stuffy restaurant feels like.  Now shove three 10 person tables into a 20' wide space with 21 diners around those three tables and I think that's the recipe for spread.  Not what our restaurants are currently configured with 6 feet between diners.  It's a good case study but it needs to be given more context than many articles that reference it give.  My opinion obv.

i consider myself as contrarian as anyone, but i have to admit, catastrophe's "why is knowing things better than not knowing them" effort has me wobbling.

Perfect data is better than imperfect, and the answer to the question you think I’m asking is because both decision makers and the general public have a very limited capacity to digest information before having to make important decisions based on that information.

Providing stacks of endless (but flawless) data is worth less than an imperfect summary of the data for pretty much anyone save specialists who care about a limited subset of the data.

I just don't understand the benefit of combining both tests.  Maybe to get a raw count of everyone who may have had it at some point?  I'm not sure what that accomplishes beyond mere scoreboarding or the hunt for herd immunity.  But even then, you could let us do the addition for that.

Double counting isn't really the risk.  rough ridin' up the temporal aspect of infection data is the problem.
