What countries for what?

I was simply asking cRusty why he always plays the race the card as if I didn't believe the Taiwanese cus brown people (BTW your killed a crap ton of brown people) . . . when I'm coming at it from the political perspective.   W.H.O. snubbed Taiwan, knowing that China lost a lot more people, heavily criticized, while Taiwan is the poster child for handling this situation, or at least that's what they want you to believe (and I'm sure that's probably the case given demographics, size and geography).

Always happy to get you up to speed, Phil

dax, you said, and I quote, "Yet other countries response was to essentially not do much and they're approaching being on the backside." Who are those countries?

michigancat played the race card after you didn't answer his question the first time. still waiting for you to name the countries you were referencing here:

Yet other countries response was to essentially not do much and they're approaching being on the backside.

I didn't name the countries because they've already been named if you'd just try following along, Phil.

Confused again.  Quote where they were named and you don't want to type them again?.  This isn't a hard ask.

Very on brand. Surprised Dax didn't just say the word.

I suppose you could say Sweden is approaching being on the backside

and like I said, if we aren't going to do anything while we're locked down, I say yeah let's just match what Sweden's doing and let folks die at a higher rate

Quote
Centralized quarantine is the normal way to deal with epidemic disease. The CDC even maintains a website about its dedicated “quarantine stations,” which are primarily focused on international borders. The first centralized quarantine site in America was built in 1799 to deal with yellow fever victims (it was not widely understood that yellow fever is transmitted primarily through mosquitoes). We literally have a “National Quarantine Act” that gave the federal government quarantine powers in 1878, reinforced in 1944, then transferred to the eventual CDC in 1967.

And then in the 1970s, the U.S. closed down 47 of its 55 quarantine stations because, and I’m quoting from CDC’s website here, “infectious diseases were thought to be a thing of the past.” In a fit of arrogance and hubris, American leaders simply decided that it could never happen here. President George W. Bush, to his credit, expanded the number back to 20 in the 2000s, but they remain small in scale compared to their former levels. By law, individuals can be quarantined for cholera, diphtheria, tuberculosis, plague, smallpox, yellow fever, hemorrhagic fevers like Ebola, new varieties of influenza, and severe acute respiratory syndromes like SARS, MERS, or COVID. President Trump just updated the federal regulation governing these stations (and clarified the legality of their use in domestic cases) in 2017.

Honestly if we locked down to get healthcare ready and let science catch up a bit so we could diagnose and treat infected better then mission accomplished and open up with distancing protocols in place and let's deal with the deaths which should be lower than if we didn't lockdown.

healthcare should be pretty ready also.

I heard a podcast with Dr. David Katz and while I thought he was off on somethings he did stick pretty hard to the 20% number of infected.  That is, he states just about everywhere Spain, Russia, the Norwegian Princess 20% will get it, 80% will not.  His theory is 80% of the population is either immune or genetically will not get it, 20% will and those numbers are consistent across the human species.

Is this BS?

cRusty already said Sweden, Phil.

so only one country?  Not  countries like you said?

South Korea.

The problem you have, Phil.   Is that you'll completely fail to take into consideration a multitude of other factors when discussing their relative "success".    Tracing and testing aside (because there's simply no way their level of testing caught everyone now that we know so much more about this virus) they didn't lock everyone down on quarantine and they are extremely compliant on mask usage.   Herd immunity and extreme self containment of asymptomatic spread by using masks.

I mean, how much flattening the curve did we lose by having our "experts" tell us not to wear masks for several weeks?  Looks at notes:  Fauci, Brix et. al.

Which only hammers home why anyone who doesn't wear a mask in public right now, yet demands everything be opened back up needs to be shamed with extreme prejudice.   Now that we know the virus can stay with some symptomatic infectees for 50 plus days, I don't think it's a stretch to think that the the virus could stay with at some asymptomatic infectees for that long as well.

All I asked was which countries were you saying their "response was to essentially not do much and they're approaching being on the backside."

I have no idea what all your other mumbo jumbo post is about.  It doesn't address anything I've ever said on here on this topic.

Man, our world in data is the best site for covid info. Best site for most info.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.
