God bless this total crap show they're running right now...

Two weeks ago, we didn't have enough PPE and the news was all  :runaway: :runaway: :runaway:

Now, nearly every business in the United States wants people to wear masks when indoors.  This might be the dumbest hoax ever perpetrated on mankind.

weird, rural areas getting hit really hard.  Guess their subway is doing it?

By the sounds of it, it's the close quarters in the meatpacking plants.

Subways probably aren't very safe either, relatively speaking.

kdub clearly told us this is a dense population city problem only and locking down rural areas was killing the economy unnecessarily.

He’s been right many times already so I don’t see why we shouldn’t listen to him again.

I mean, I think people in rural areas can catch covid too, but the point of the shelter orders is to limit unique interactions among people, right?  A lot fewer of those in rural areas.

When I lived in Chicago, I'd pass more people walking a few blocks to chipotle than most people out in Larned see all month.

evidence seems to suggest that a decent period of time in proximity is required before infection is likely.  10-15 minutesish.

I would guess because it's not "in the air" to a potent level and has to be passed more directly from a sickie.

But doesn't that basically mean there's not much of a risk regarding things like retail shopping?

Shared surfaces were thought to be a significant transmission risk but not sure if emerging research has confirmed that

Indoors or outdoors?

afaik, almost all non-contact transmission that has occurred has been indoors (except for the massive transmission event at an italian soccer game).  of course there's some (probably substantial) bias in what cases can be traced to an event and what cases can't.

Most densely populated areas of Maga's, who think this is a big city thing.

most of the informed opinion i've seen appears to think that retail shopping is pretty low risk.

at least given our current behavioral adaptations.  if everyone goes back to licking their fingers to separate dollar bills and then handing them to cashiers and whatnot, that may not apply.

Agreed and that matches what I've read on surface to person contact from like packaging being super low.

Yea I know better, but I get into the conversation and want to respond while it's fresh in my head.  I tend to not respond to old posts until I read up on the thread, whatever that's worth.  :D
