I think that's the answer right now. Anyone who could intelligently investigate Chinese mistakes leading to virus spread should probably be put to use investigating/understanding/coming up with solutions for current domestic virus spread.
I agree that the origin isn't a priority right now. All I'm saying is that I think the world eventually deserves an answer as to how this episode actually began.
This is important so we can use science to try to learn from this in the future and not so we can exact some kind of revenge, right?
Principally, yes. But if CCP knew that this came from one of their labs, and have been making up some bullshit about a Pangolin in a wet market, I don't think it's asking too much for them to offer a "my bad for leaking this thing and lying about it for x months while a ton of people got sick and died and got their economies wrecked."
To be clear, I'm not accusing anyone of anything. I don't know what happened. But I do think investigating the origin of this worldwide catastrophe is worthwhile. I hope that nothing nefarious is behind it and it's just some freak virus that emanated naturally.
