So is the new incel talking point to blame this wholly on china?  and if so, to what end?  Be super war thirsty and fight them?  Cancel our debt?

just spitballing but it seems to be the super old/impotent and stupid position now.  I bet it is widely held in the poorest/fattest and dumbest states.

yeah trying to nail down China so we have a fall guy doesn't seem like a productive use of resources

cRusty, please document the resources that will be expanded, and while you're at it, please pass me another defective Chinese produced mask.

The president and secretary of state are usually valuable resources but I get your point given our current people in those positions.

Firing up people to blame China to what end as was asked earlier?  Nationalism?
If a Chinese fuckup led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people across the globe, isn't that worth at least knowing?

Sure.  Want to kick them off the planet or something?  How about we figure out our own country's eff up while we are at it?   Since we were you know told about it in January and sat on our thumbs laughing about it for a month at pep rallies?

You also know full well that had Trump started the FearPorn in January Useful Idiot Nation would have immediately defaulted to Trump trying to distract from impeachment.    Useful Idiot Nation will never own it, tho.

He would have been right to do so with the information he had and they would have been on the wrong side.  Instead he LOL'd around at his pep rallies and did get this country prepared for this.  So you want people to own something that never happened?  Goodness Dax.  Take ownership of what actually DID and IS happening.

Geezus, you're such a hyper partisan fuckstick.   The de facto leader of Useful Idiot Nation tore up the SOU which brought up Covid-19 and told her entire constituency to not pay any attention to any of it.   She then literally told people to go gather in large groups and ignore pretty much everything in terms of what NOT to do relative to the spread of this virus.   The Mayor of the largest city in the country and his health commissioner did the exact same thing.

yes eff them too dude.  Especially if they knew what Trump knew at the time.  That was late February.  It still doesn't excuse Trump's complete blowing off of this throughout Jan/Feb and not getting this country prepared.

Feb. 23, remarks before Marine One departure:

"I think President Xi is working very, very hard. I spoke to him. He's working very hard. I think he's doing a very good job. It's a big problem. But President Xi loves his country. He's working very hard to solve the problem, and he will solve the problem. OK?"

Like, our president got owned like the Dream Team versus Angola destroyed.  Do you want him in charge of any response?

lol here is what trump said about the coronavirus in his SOTU on February 5. (this is the entirety of his remarks on coronavirus in the speech)

Protecting Americans’ health also means fighting infectious diseases. We are coordinating with the Chinese government and working closely together on the coronavirus outbreak in China. My administration will take all necessary steps to safeguard our citizens from this threat.

So slurs should have ripped up that part based on where Dax is now on this thing?

Think about WHY this site was created in the first place...  Insiders or as we called them “people ITK” were able to get inside info about K-State football that the “real reporters” couldn’t get because the entire narrative was controlled within Vanier Sports Complex.

While we all enjoyed knowing facts about our favorite team, those that enjoyed the public narrative hung out at GPC and called us all sorts of names because we didn’t toe the line.  Remember?   Well, guess what? The EXACT SAME THING is happening  now, only on a much larger scale.

I don't recall this being the reason why this site was created in the first place.

Fair point... However I stand by the rest of the post.

Captain Obvious point of the day, the virus is going to continue mutating, so we're likely never going to get to a vaccine that's 100%.

So as I said earlier, therapeutics to mitigate systems should and hopefully are getting more funding and research than the vaccine.    Capable mitigation enables faster reopening.

Pathogens can also evolve resistance to small molecule therapeutics just as easily as biologics. Mitigation doesn't shift the highest risk groups (i.e. immunocompromised) out of danger. A possible vaccine is still preferable to any small molecule therapeutic.

i was going to make fun of americans, but the way the question was phrased, i think americans are responding correctly.  data shows that as a country we are taking steps to slow transmission and that those steps are at least somewhat effective.  it is probably correct to now estimate that the risk of infection to yourself and your family is lower than you might have estimated a week ago.

Classic Useful Idiot Nation:

Yeah the Chinese are sorta culpable, but now what? We’re gonna stop working with them?  (Derp).

rough ridin' Trump said 4 months ago they were working with the Chinese, rough ridin' Trump (Derp)

The fact that Super Slow Dug is trying to play this about getting dunked on, which would include the whole world.  While knowing that his hero’s and the dipshits of Useful Idiot Nation got played hard and deep by the most obvious delegitimization campaign in world history, is both sad and hilarious.

Speaking strictly in terms of getting things opened.

The economic problems are on the cusp of causing more problems than the virus itself.  We’re not going to eradicate this virus, and they’ll be no chance of coming close without an economic engine to support the process.

The way you do that RIGHT NOW is to rapidly expand testing capabilities and implement contact tracing, because any new therapy or vaccine is going to have to go through clinical trials prior to FDA approval and that's going to take 4-6 months in a best case scenario.

good news in that it's below 1.0.  bad news in that they already have a huge infected population and it will take a very long time to reduce if r stays near 1.0.
