sure, it would be better if they didn't carry the briefings and also were better overall.  but they don't need to improve to justify skipping the briefings.

What is your argument about why you think they shouldn't carry it?

they didn't carry daily press briefings from the podium and only cut up important news from that event?

I didn't believe the earlier reports about people re-catching the virus, but it appears these are the end days.

Top virologists from around the world have determined that it enters the human cells through the same s-proteins as HIV, which makes me wonder if people are "re-catching" it, or if its something that you never get rid of once you contract it.

 :dunno:

"Dunno" is right. do you even microbiology, bro? Spike proteins are on the virus capsid. And no, I HIGHLY doubt they are exactly the same given that HIV binds to CCR5 receptor and COVID-19 binds to the ACE2 receptor. They might share some homology, but you'd see that across a large swath of virus classes and it would be totally expected. Furthermore, HIV and West Nile both bind to CCR5, but you can completely eradicate West Nile whereas HIV sticks around, so there's nothing about mode of entry that has any impact on whether or not the disease can be cured.

and honestly the white house press kind of annoys me as much as the president. Not really their fault but they have to act like Trump isn't a big dumb liar who deserves respect.

Yes, I'm in a weird spot where I'm very annoyed by the questions asked, and at the same time don't have any idea how they could improve because nothing will be answered anyway.

Studies are starting to come out that confirm as many as 80% of those with COVID-19 are asymptomatic or very mild symptoms, and has probably been spreading in the US since November or earlier.  There is a very good chance many of you have had it.

https://www.cebm.net/covid-19/covid-19-what-proportion-are-asymptomatic/

i appreciate that dougie keeps his disinformation concise and dense rather than scattering it out in a long unreadable conspiracy post.

Yes, I leave it up to you to read the Oxford and WHO reports.

it just gives him a platform to lie, propagandize and misinform the public.  they have no obligation to provide that platform and it doesn't serve the public interest.

send reporters, tape it, report on anything said of public value, but you don't need to go live to him insulting reporters and telling everyone to ask their doctors for off label drugs.

Dig deeper

Quote
While the range of symptoms for the two viruses is similar, the fraction with severe disease appears to be different. For COVID-19, data to date suggest that 80% of infections are mild or asymptomatic, 15% are severe infection, requiring oxygen and 5% are critical infections, requiring ventilation. These fractions of severe and critical infection would be higher than what is observed for influenza infection.

Those most at risk for severe influenza infection are children, pregnant women, elderly, those with underlying chronic medical conditions and those who are immunosuppressed. For COVID-19, our current understanding is that older age and underlying conditions increase the risk for severe infection.

Mortality for COVID-19 appears higher than for influenza, especially seasonal influenza. While the true mortality of COVID-19 will take some time to fully understand, the data we have so far indicate that the crude mortality ratio (the number of reported deaths divided by the reported cases) is between 3-4%, the infection mortality rate (the number of reported deaths divided by the number of infections) will be lower.

they wouldn't be preventing it, just declining to facilitate it.  it's not state tv, a president doesn't have the right to command the airwaves whenever they want.

It will be interesting to see how long italy extends their lockdown for, it’s set to expire 4/13 (it began 3/9).  Wuhan’s lasted 10 weeks (and their lockdown was probably much more severe...)

Wuhan should still be in lockdown.
