Family friend's entire family got covid, Wichita area, 2 got over it easy, 1 died... 62 years old, lungs gave out. None of them were vaccinated because they didn't think it mattered. Other family members who survived still not getting vaccinated. Like wtf! Too many of these stories still.

That is remarkable. Like, after the 62 year old died of Covid amid their grief and suffering over someone who died early from covid do they still get all angry when someone talks vax?

Absolutely, and back when we were in the office I made sure to let my coworkers know they should too. The flu sucks!

I hope that republicans fighting against vaccines doesn't reduce the number of people who get flu shots (because it's bad for society)

I think the republican plan to slow vaccinations will necessarily have that effect.

I had never got a flu shot before, but work required I get one in the fall. I was happy to get one thinking it would help our health care system.

A lot of my family is MAGA. I was so glad they decided to get the vaccine and wear masks last spring/summer.

Common ground.. even though they are guessing for that years strain of the flu I too get one. Now for the covid vax.The last year was rough on a ton of people and our ‘news sources’ were less than helpful. The WHO was a joke, fauci good land, president and presidential candidate embarrassing. Kids in and out of school people not seeing family and friends. Means of exercising taken away. All I’m saying is I can understand how some people would have a less than favorable outlook on getting the vax right away. Now I know your automatic response is going to be an argument and that’s ok. Just saying I can understand those people, doesn’t mean they are right.

Only the last batch of things are of tangible negative consequence to people, and there's a way to get past those things completely in their control.

The best way to make sure kids are consistently in school and gyms stay open is to get as many people as possible vaccinated. If that's something you care about, you should encourage people you can influence to get vaccinated.

The vaccination research and trials are separate from agencies like the WHO who were reacting to a disease that we knew next to nothing about early in the pandemic (but still definitely mumped in many ways). We now have mountains of data that show vaccines are safe and effective, while say, the guidance saying to not wear masks early on wasn't based on good data.

I feel a lot of the people who express reluctance and skepticism just haven't ever had to deal with much change in their lives. Kinda like their lives have been relatively free and easy and they're just spoiled now because of it.
