is the healthy place, panera?  because if so, it definitely would not work or rock.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

HRP has been keeping D2 on a short leash. Weekly one-on-ones, project plans. D2 is falling behind schedule and HRP is upping the pressure.

Meanwhile, D2 has convinced himself that he is the designated manager of our group. Though I expressed my skepticism about that idea to NG2 (no one has ever said a word about it!), she seems to have bought into it.

So, yesterday, I wasn't paying attention at all, but I remember hearing D2 say, "it's not my problem." After a long pause, I heard NG2 say, "Excuse me?" I gathered the gist was that D2 had a ton of stuff to do on his project for HRP. He told NG2 that she needed to do some of it, she replied that it was more than she could handle, and he said that that wasn't his problem.

They went back and forth a few times. I don't know exactly what they said because I just wasn't listening. Because they didn't raise their voices at all and sounded totally civil. I didn't know what was going on until it was mostly over. I got the idea that she expressed that she was deeply offended and had a major problem with his attitude. His response was something to the effect that he didn't have time for people's feelings. They repeated that exchange again and he walked out for the day.

I'm working from home today, so that's the latest I've got.

Also, my wife thinks that since D2 likes to act like he's the boss when he technically is not the boss, I should talk to him like I am his boss. Like, "that's a great point, D2. Thank you for sharing it with us. Does anyone else have any ideas to share?" Which would be totally hilarious.

I sometimes do the presiding officer thing where I will ask "is there any more discussion on point C before we move on to the next agenda item?" when things get side-tracked or someone is talking too much.

Wow! Yes!

One interesting thing right now. GG moved out shortly after D2 moved in (by choice, after she was demoted and sort of lost the power struggle with D2). She moved into another room. Just this week, a new hire took the her space. I don't know where she's sitting now, but I know she's still around!

Here's something else I thought was fun. Like three weeks ago, I was walking by OFG's office. It looked empty, so I took a closer look. Yep, empty. The next week, HRP was sitting in there and totally moved in. No one ever said anything about OFG, but apparently he is gone now? Monday, on the new hire's first day, GG was sitting in there. But not on Tuesday. So, I think she used it for a day and has a new space now. I really haven't talked to GG since she moved out of my room. Lol.

Also, here's some commentary: I think with the one-on-ones and project plans, HRP is basically setting things up to get rid of D2 if he doesn't perform. Like, not in the business as usual way. In a more aggresive way.

I'm confused by chum's office setup. Your desk and a couple other desk's are in a large-ish conference room? Is your office so full that there is no cube farm area available and you have utilized conference rooms for desk area? Any plans to move into a new office?

The conference room situation was weird and described earlier in the thread.

Most of the rooms are large and have built in cubicle type things in each corner. And then there are some single person offices, too.

Oh! I took this a while back to post, but forgot until now. In the hallway between the lobby and offices.

I’ve never thought about it before, but I love the idea of long sprawling messages you can read while walking down the hallway.

Update from Tuesday!!!

D2 comes in and closes the door. Right off the bat, he's like, "I have a meeting with HRP today. I'm telling HRP that it's either me or her (meaning NG2). I will NOT work like this."

Then he does his usual ranting. "If they want me to manage this group..." Etc. I did nothing to try to calm him down. In fact, all I said was, "well, GG had those exact same problems with NG2."

Oh, I also mentioned that I thought that, between the two, NG1 was the wrong one to leave. D2 said "they" asked him his opinion on that at the time and that he told them he preferred NG1, too. But they decided to go the other way. Not sure why D2 wouldn't be the one making that decision if he truly is the manager. Lol.

I don't know what the discussion between D2 and HRP was like, but she convinced him to smooth things over with NG2. So, they're all good temporarily. Boring.

He said that HRP told him they could get rid of NG2 if that's what he really wanted. I guess I'm not buying that.

Another thing D2 told me yesterday was that he's going to start doing some consulting on the side. He repeated one of his rant favorites, "I have options!" He said that he needs to "fill his pockets" for retirement account. That he thought this place would take off and we'd all fill our pockets (we do not own a stake in the company) but that's not happening. With half of the stuff he says, I feel like he wants me to spread it around the company. I never do.
