Perhaps it's because I watched it alone, but I found Palm Springs a really fun, lovely and delightful movie, but not particularly funny.

That's fair! I thought it was funny but not laugh out loud funny very often

Watch Tom Hanks in Greyhound last night. Loved it. Also prob gonna sent me on a 3-4 sub movie binge. Starting up Crimson Tide now.
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

He was on Dan Carlin's podcast discussing this Greyhound a few weeks ago.  Pretty good listen.

Greyhound - yes anything with Tom Hanks is good.

Ex Machina - loved this, and at one point I started laughing because I remembered how KazzDub was triggered by this movie for some reason.

the lifeless, dull mediocrity that is EM and Arrival, but you've got the same basic "dumb people think this movie is really profound when it really isn't" vibe to them.

Critics raved over this movie. It wasn't insightful, thoughtful, profound, or any of the other glowing adjectives affixed to it. SPOILER ALERT!! Tony Stark make an AI robot that's super hawt. Dweeb wants to have sex with super hawt AI robot. Turns out (gasp), super hawt AI robot doesn't really care about having sex, but figures out it can use Dweeb's horniness to escape, because of its AI made by Tony Stark. That's the entire plot of Ex Machina. The dialogue wasn't memorable. The acting wasn't memorable (except the dance scene). /Spoilers.

Granted, part of the problem was my expectations going in. If I had gone in cold I expect I would have concluded "eh, that was ok." But based on the glowing reviews I left the movie thinking "WTF is wrong with all these clowns?"

if you're a dumbass who enjoys movies like Ex Machina that make you feel smart by pretending to be way more profound than they actually are, you'll like Arrival.

To me, this is kinda like what happened with other movies (Ex Machina comes to mind), where there seem to be a lot of people who want Parasite to be a lot more profound than it actually is.

Of course it was great, but leave it to a weirdo like KazzDub to come up with those scorching hot takes.

Jurassic Park (1993) - still great. you know when sam neill fumbles with the two "female" seat belt ends in the helicopter at the beginning, but is still able to make it work? amazing foreshadowing.

A Bridge Too Far (1977) - straightforward and extremely long re-enactment of operation market garden. some hilariously bad appearances (gene hackman as a polish general wtf; ryan o'neal is also lol) and some v good ones (james caan, anthony hopkins). the war stuff like explosions and 70s gunshot sounds got to be very monotonous, but there are some cool scenes like the massive paratroop drop that make it worth a watch. it could have been a lot more interesting.

Frost/Nixon (2008) - pretty good considering it's just about a series of interviews. rebecca hall continues to completely smoke, michael sheen gets to be the protag, and sam rockwell is awesome as usual.
