Molly's Game is amaze. I am not some poindexter who hates aaron sorkin though

Amaze is a stretch but it's good. The makeup person should have won an Oscar because they made Jessica Chastain look just like Molly Bloom and they don't look alike at all. Also that ice skating scene was cheesy a.f. but it was relatively accurate.

I have never considered a producer/director/writer when deciding to or not to watch a movie.

aaron sorkin writes a very distinct style of dialogue that turns a lot of people off

I just wikied this dude and I've seen five of his movies and only hate one of them, The American President. I don't love any of them though. Admittedly I'm far from a cinephile but I don't remember any distinctive dialogue that I love or hate, other than the court scene from A Few Good Men, which I'm assuming everyone loves.

IPA GF picked the movie last night. I'm two years late to the Academy Awards party but I thoroughly enjoyed Three Billboards. Never would've picked it on my own. Laughed my ass off, cringed a few times, and I cried once. What a rollercoaster.

Great movie

I tried to watch it twice and couldn't get over the fake accents both times

And the fact it was shot in North Carolina, but it entertained me.

Also, yes to Molly’s game, watched it twice in the last two weeks on Netflix. It’s just a cool story tbh.

Perhaps you’ve happened across one of his forays into television?

I didn't like Sports Night, I'm sure I would now. I never watched The West Wing or The Newsroom. Not sure why I never watched The Newsroom, seems right up my alley, but the fact that it was only two seasons long isn't convincing.

His dialogue is too fast for me. I don't think I'm watching a conversation, I think I'm watching something Sorkin wrote because there's not enough space between one character finishing talking and the next starting to talk. Like it would be impossible for the second character to process and respond in the amount of time given.

Gilmore girls actually has very similar dialogue. And I enjoyed social network.

Yeah.  Sorkin definitely has a particular style that can turn people off.  It doesn't really bother me.

I really like The West Wing.  The insane dialogue be explained away with "these people are the smartest and best communicators in the world."

Project Power on Netflix is 2.5 stars. About 30 minutes of cool super power stuff, and the rest of if is super cheesy, irrelevant, and unauthentic emotional stuff.

Finally watched “Sorry to bother you” It is on Hulu. I really liked it. Very entertaining and I think does a great job of finding interesting and funny ways to do its social commentary and isn’t just preachy and definitely not overwrought or emotional.

Prometheus is available on HBO this month. I had watched all of the Alien movies over the summer. I really enjoyed Prometheus. It was probably my second or third favorite of the franchise.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Ya, I thought you could argue that some of the others are #2, but probably not.

Bucket, thank you for saying this. I am a big alien franchise guy. Love alien, aliens also great but mostly an action movie. I think alien 3 not very good. I like Prometheus and covenant, but I really wish they would have committed to the new universe and gone all in with it.

I haven't seen Alien: Covenant. I liked them all, but I really like the prison one.

Edit: That's Alien 3!  :shakesfist:
