More idle speculation: We’ve heard, credibly, that the team was told they’d have a name within two weeks. We’ve also been told on several fronts that we’re getting close to being finished with the search.

If it was Klieman, it seems odd that we’d hear that announcement in the middle of FCS playoffs.

But today’s the team awards banquet (see Twitter ongoing). Dunno if ADGT is there, but if you’ve got an internal or person that’d already be at that event, that’s where I’d drop the news.

He’s not reading this board. Are you serious? He does although check his KSTATE sports email. Also you would be crazy not to think that they aren’t gauaging fan feedback on potential hires. Do you know how many construction loans they have put right now?? They don’t sell tickets or receive donations. It will not be good

They will sell tickets and receive donations if the team is winning. Unless GT is a complete dumbass, his decision should be focused entirely on hiring the guy with the best chance of winning, regardless of what the fans and donors think. The only difference is that fans will give an unpopular candidate a much shorter timespan to start winning until they call for the AD’s head.

I'd rather have Norvell or Brown than Klieman, but I'm starting to question it. I'm easily swayed by compelling arguments. I'd make a terrible AD, as would like 95% of fans. Also don't know who these mystery coordinators are.

Nitpick over the relevant part? He blew the entire post and premise up. There is no such thing as a homerun hire for most college football programs. Acting like LittreLL, Norvell, Satterfield, and Brown is silly as hell. Most hires made out of that mold fail too. Our pool of candidates would look the exact same any year we'd attempt to make a hire. The chance of any of these decent group of 5 coaching having success at any average P5 program is exactly the same, and that includes Klieman.
One thing I like about CK is he's slightly different. Lower level experience but unprecedented success. IMO he has the most potential upside because of this

Agreed. Also comparing him to other FCS coaches is dumb.
