I think that all makes a ton of sense.  I'm not sure what K-State balked at, but I think it's far more likely K-State turned him down if he felt the need to make all these leaks.

What part of Littrells persona and demeanor makes anyone think he doesn’t have full confidence he’s going to crush it next year and get a good P5 job? If he actually executes on that is another thing but that dude ain’t looking in the rear view mirror kicking himself I can promise you that.

Right. If anything I think he’s probably overconfident and right now some combination of him/his agent think he’s worth more than anyone is willing to give him so he’s gonna go out and kick ass until people recognize that.

Honestly good for him if that’s the case/his mindset, but I wouldn’t fault GT (and likely others) for saying we’re not gonna pay you like a top 15-20 coach until we’re more convinced that’s what you are.

My understanding of the situation from Blackcats’ and others’ posts is that Gene balked at LittreLL demanding crazy high salaries for at least the OC position if not the entire staff earlier in the week. At that point GT began negotiating with one or more other candidates and reached an agreement in principle (including getting a contract approved by KSA) Thursday evening with someone else. GT then told LittreLL we’re going a different direction so LittreLL “withdrew” from consideration.

I cannot imagine that this is accurate.   If there was another deal signed off on, surely there'd be smoke.
