The funny part IMO is the moderator’s total blind spot assuming that just invoking the date would be enough to spark conversation from an average moderate.

That's because Biden and Harris WERE (clunkily) politicizing the anniversary. I agree with catastrophe that the funny part is the underlying assumption that regular voters are as obsessed with politics as the polling parties are.
